Eternal Winter ... Why?

Reign of Winter

I am running my PCs through this AP and enjoying it. I just finished reading through the entire AP (PCs are at the start of book 2 about to head to Whitethrone). One question that remains unanswered (or I missed it) is why is Baba Yaga keeping Irrisen in winter?

She even says she has lost interst in Irrisen but wont allow winter to be reversed.

Thanks.

Dark Archive

I've never read anything that even hints at an answer to this question.

Cool, so I didn't miss anything. All good, I can make something up if my PCs ever ask.

Ideas:

As a defensive mechanism.

As a power play

To reduce the power of Bikini wearing Succubi, because Baba Yaga knows Nocticula is up to something.

Haha.

I’m thinking it’s purely a test/trial for her adopted people (Irrasians could even be Russians). She seems to be the type that believes strength comes from trials and suffering and overcoming said suffering. She is expecting them to rebel and is unimpressed they have not done so successfully yet.

I also won’t have her consuming Elvanna. Similiar to her other sisters rebellion Baba Yaga admires the ambition but isn’t impressed by the execution. So she will free her on her own world/semi plane where she can’t interfere with Baba Yaga’s plans.

I read somewhere I thing in the "Snows of summer" thread the idea that Bab Yaga is actually keeping a second worldwound from opening in Irrisen. I think it makes Baba Yaga more interesting that she does things like that.
