Iruxi ancestry feats + kineticist = awesome?

How can I best utilize the iruxi ancestry feats such as Marsh Runner and Terrain Advantage to best effect in conjunction with kineticist auras and impulses?

*Sigh* The more I look into it the less awesome it seems. Kind of hard to compete against things like Winter Sleet, which does what the ancestry feats do and more.

What kinds of awesome iruxi concepts/characters (of any class) can you come up with?


I thought that Iruxi make the best War Priests just on their ability score spread. Any melee oriented heavy armour character who doesn't need Int - most of them. I think they also work for the Rogue Ruffian.

Terrain Advantage is nice as it is easy to generate difficult terrain. But trying to compete with Winters Sleet is like trying to compete with the Fighters +2 or the Bards cantrips. I guess the down side of Winters Sleet is that it is super visible.

Terrain Advantage arrives relatively late and it is cheap effective and a good option even if you don't have much else to synergise with. I really like it on any character who makes attacks especially ranged characters who can't easily get flanking modifiers or martials without flanking partners.


If you're just looking for fun combos, Elf ancestry + Air kineticist can get you 50' move by level 5.

Base: 30'
L1: Nimble Elf = 35'
L3: Fleet = 40'
L5: Air Aura Junction +10' = 50'.

This also means that your free stride from your impulse junction is a 25' move, as is your move from Four Winds. And all that move translates into flight move when you get cyclonic ascent.

Not a lot of offense or defense in that build though. 6 HP/level and Ariel Boomerang's half the upgrade pace of other impulses, woo hoo! You're going to be using all that mobility to stay out of everyone else's combat range.

Maybe Impenetrable Fog + Marsh Runner then. Or lots and lots of Extended Kinesis to flood/muddy an area.

In hindsight it does look like the devs missed a chance to make the Water Kineticist powers flood areas, then combo that with some 'freedom of movement through water' impulse junction. Instead, the water powers produce enough high pressure water force to push lots of things around...and then it all magically disappears a second or two later.
