A couple years ago I wrote a guide about my hopes for fellow players at the PFS table. The guide focused a lot on meeting benchmarks by level. Some liked it, some didn't because they felt it was too didactic.
I know several new players who've since used the guide as a reference point, so I've been meaning to revisit the guide with fresh eyes. I've since revised it to be less of an "expectations" list and more of a personal essay about what I think works.
I want to share in a new thread because the old thread became a little argumentative. Perhaps this new version is more palatable to the community at large while also providing useful information.
Building PCs who Help the Table
I welcome ideas. I am publishing it on my Guides site so I can maintain and revise if needed.

This is a great idea for an essay, Doug.
Minor initial nitpick: I thought that the Wayfinder was free after your second adventure, not at second level.
You're right, thank you!
For third actions I would add things like Demoralise, Bon Mot and similar.
Those are great suggestions; added.

For cheap, light items to keep in your pocket that might really help another character, I think that the humble Feather Token (Ladder) or, if you have the book and can use it, a scroll of Helpful Steps deserve special mention as big assistance to your least athletic allies.
Follow The Expert is also a mechanic that could be worth pointing out, as a very important way for characters to help each other through some skill challenges. There are also a few feats that go hand in hand with them like Lead Climber and Quiet Allies, but I think those are less important than making sure that people know that being an Expert allows for that mechanic in the first place.

I missed Helpful Steps in Firebrands. Really solid problem-spell and it's on ALL the lists! Integrated these… thank you.

Your original guide really helped me to get into PFS year 2 a while back and I still play the lvl 10 barbarian that came out the other side to this day!
One thing that I would add to this guide is Silversheen and Cold Iron Blanch. A ridiculous amount of enemies are weak to metals and both of these items can allow you to apply when nessesary (especially silversheen). Often an agent won't be able to afford a precious metal weapon while trying to buy all of their mandatory runes/skill bonus items so these items are a must have imo.
When you reach higher levels Potions of Flying (for the terrain comment you mentioned) and Potions of Quickness become similar staples for every build.

Thanks, that means a lot to me!
I was motivated by feedback here to start working on a worksheet with common problems, and key items & consumables by level — I plan on adding this to the guide with instructions on how one might use it. Welcome any feedback.
