Scarab Sages

Hello,

I was wondering -

If I want to join pathfinder society play - will I be using the 2e rulebook

Is 1e compatible with the newest season - is new content being created for 1e

I played last in 2016 and would be grateful if I could get a rundown of what the world has become and how I can participate.

Thanks

Welcome back!

All the new adventures are published as Pathfinder 2e adventures. So for most of the venues that offer Organized Play, the adventures offered will be 2nd Edition. That said, Pathfinder 1st edition is still be offered in Online Organized Play, and at some locations that offer the occasional PF1 table.

Alas, no. But read on.

The good news is that there were several seasons of PFS 1e adventures after 2016 so there are still PF1 adventures that you can play. I would suggest looking for PF1 at some of the official online lodges.

Here's a list of official PFS Discord Servers.

Otherwise let us know if we can help you build your first character for PF2! Second Edition is very well-designed, with lots of fun options for characters.

You will use your same PFS number you used before. That has not changed or gone away. You will simply create a 2nd ed character. Those characters will start with 2000, so your first character will be 2001.

Oh and I forgot to qualify this... Yes, you will be needing the Second Edition rulebook for PFS second edition adventures. You can purchase it digitally, and if you are looking for a paper copy, Paizo is selling them and the Beginner Box for 25% off until January 25th.

Starfinder has also debuted since then and while the setting is quite different, but super fun the rules are more similar than 2E. There are still physical tables of 1E in some locations. I know of interest in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois if any of those might be helpful.
