Dream Invasion (pg17) Clarification need

Dream Invasion:
The sidebar on pg 17, Dream Invasion, mentions that the PC who has the "dream" gains the Awakened Power Feat. The way I read that, is they get the feat for free and do not have to use a Class Feat to obtain it. I'm I reading that correctly?

Yes that is my understanding.

It is better explained in the sidebar on page 7, "additional deviant feats. ...in addition to all the usual ancestry, class, general and skill feats.... The AP will hand these at key plot points, though players are encouraged to take them as class feats if they want to explore the powers. (in the Player's Guide Sibelius Eos Owm mentioned. I have not found any others in the first book, but I may just be missing them.

I don't like that this means the players will get it at different rates without control of or power over who gets it when. I'll have to think about it.

It's in the GM's control as to who experiences the dream and when. There's really only a recommendation that each character experiences a dream before the end of the book, you could have each of them have one for the first 4 nights of the campaign.

Different Rates technically, but it can happen between one encounter and the next since the first happens while sleeping (sort-of downtime).


I finally finished reading all three books and thought I would update this.

Dream Invasion:
Player's Guide pages 6-8 (backgrounds) PCs get their first deviant feat (Dedications).
Book I page 17 (as noted above) PCs can get the second campaign-free deviant feat (Awakened Power).
Book II page 35 PCs get their third campaign-free deviant feat (Awakened Power)
Book III page 47, PCs their their fourth & final campaign-free deviant feat. (greater awakened power or 10th level feat associated with their ability).

Not Enough!:
I want to play Deviant Abilities up more so will offer more free ones whenever a character gets to dying 1 (flavored as: unconscious condition is stronger than sleeping & Osoyo infiltrates the mind). I am trying not to force it on my player's but I do want to highlight this aspect of the adventure since it is specific to this AP. :)
