Okay, so recently I had an idea for a truly bizarre Pathfinder character.
They are a Kitsune Crossblooded Sorcerer with the Aberrant and Vestige Bloodlines and the Gruesome Shapechanger feat.
I intend their backstory dark but not particularly edgy, but I haven't figured out the details quite yet. I'm planning to take the First, Third, and Fifteenth level powers from the Vestige Bloodline and the Ninth and Twentieth level powers from the Aberrant Bloodline.
However, I don't really know how to flavor them. Does anyone have any advice?

Reading this, I found myself wondering if switching up some of your Bloodline power choices might work better, thematically speaking, with Gruesome Shapechanger.
Well the only ones I could really see myself changing are the First Level and Third Level ones but I prefer to keep my powers balanced (3 of one Bloodline, 2 of the other Bloodline) so I'd have to pick either Acidic Ray or Long Limbed, not both - unless I also swap out Aberrant Form for Manifest Memory, which would leave me with no defensive abilities.
Edit: NVM I'm dumb I still have Unusual Anatomy

I'd lost the woman I loved so I lost myself in the work. Poring over scrolls and lore, endless hours on tedious digs, all to find some shred or shard to connect some ancient truth to the current myths of our time. I couldn't bear the thought of her; better to stay distracted, INVESTED.
I wasn't thinking when I found the (insert bonded object here). It lay where it was discarded, in the dirt. This was no broken piece, no forgotten relic of a past no one cared about. It was wrapped, preserved; someone loved this this thing. I don't know why but it reminded me of my darling Lavreth, how she'd looked the first day we'd met, how she laughed at...
Even through the workglove, I could feel the sting. Something in the (insert bonded object here) had pricked my finger. Almost at once I felt woozy, uncoordinated. I stood and staggered back from the dig line, carrying the item with me as I went. I retreated to my tent, just to lay down, just to rest.
My team tells me I lay fitfully, muttering under fever for three days. Several times I cried out in an alien tongue. All I can remember are vague images... a city that shouldn't be... a strange landscape bathed in the shifting auras of a fated sky.
Since then the (insert bonded object here) hasn't left my side. I can't seem to part with it. When I do I feel sick, clammy, like I'm missing some essential part of myself. The device... changed me. Returning to town after the fever broke, I did not see the Sarenites for their healing but instead secluded myself in my apartments.
There, in the darkened confines I found I could (describe one cantrip here). It was incredible! Yet when I used the power, it somehow made me feel... nostalgic, as if I was merely remembering a time when I could do such things freely with little effort. In time more powers came but at the same time my days became... confusing.
My will at times became dulled, malleable, as if caught in a perpetual daydream. The swirling prints on the tips of my fingers were... different somehow; changing. Often I waken in the middle of the night with unexplained headaches or nosebleeds as if I'm some mewling child.
And always in my dreams, there are glimpses of the city. It's alabaster towers and angular crenelations frighten me, yet I feel as if I already know the place. It's as if I'm of two minds, two hearts. One thing I can't seem to shake though; a promise whispered to me in my nightmares by the thing that won't let me be: Lavreth waits for me there.
So now time has become strange. Seconds stretch like so much putty while the years since the incident have faded into obscurity. While I've controlled things enough to get a full night's sleep these days, there are still precautions I take. I am never without that damnable (insert bonded object here). The power that I feel, welled within me, seems inexorably bound to time, one particular past, and the city of my dreaming. Perhaps one day I will visit that place; perhaps one day I shall be with Lavreth again. Perhaps, someday, there will be time.
The basic premise is you are not the person you were before. In the story you were an archaeologist who found the bonded object on a dig, but you can insert whatever background fits your starting skills.
Essentially upon coming in contact with the alien device, it used some kind of a needle prick to inject you with the preserved DNA of some lost race, turning you into a hybrid. Your starting Race doesn't change for the purposes of character build, but the physical changes you're just starting to feel at L1 will come into play when the Aberrant bloodline powers fully manifest.
Your Sorcerer powers and spells, then, are inherent in that new DNA, as if you're part you, part something from the ancient past. This new self, growing inside of you, is bound to the primal forces of magic and time themselves, realizing this bond through spells and abilities. While you can control these to a point, their development and initial manifestation is beyond your reckoning.
This character is transforming, slowly, into something they don't yet understand. You can play this however you want, but for me I'd add a touch of fear to the PC. The Gruesome Shapechanger feat is another expression of this change and not at all something you were expecting.
Because of the conflicting nature of your changing body, your mind tapping into some ancient entity's subconsciousness from an age long past, this helps explain your lowered Will saves from Crossblooded. Your mind is at conflict with itself and constantly dreaming of some ancient city which, of course, will become your Greater Mindscape someday.

I love this, thank you
