Congratulations to the five that made it! I look forward to a fun and exciting game. Please finish up your characters with equipment, etc., if you have not done so already.
Need your input on whether you are already an adventuring party at start of game or a group of individuals brought together with a common cause (i.e. to help the elves). Which do you prefer? You can develop interlinking backgrounds or you can just come in as loners and meet the others. Let me know what fits your character.
Will put up main rp thread over the weekend. Let me know any questions and please format your characters so I can see your saves, hps, ac, perception, etc in the Race/Class Tabs.

Jaydavu |

Thanks for the selection, DM! Can't wait to get started.
I wrote up Jaydavu as more of the loner type who hasn't travelled much outside of his village. He doesn't even think he's met an elf before, maybe a half elf here and there at most. He's working off his family's debt with this favor, so I don't think he will have been with this group for long.

Tahrk Boulderbreaker |

Tahrk checking in.
Thank you for taking me on board GM Lucendar - am really looking forward to this one.
I think the group angle would make things easier, but then again I usually enjoy a lot the 'meeting up for the first time' bits, and since it seems to make more sense, I say lets go for that one.
Will brush off the finishing touches on Tahrk.

Senna, once introductions are made, don't suppose you would mind carrying Davu's wand of Mage Armor, and using it on him occasionally, would you?
I've got a little bit of gold left as well. I'm probably buying a potion of Fly, but that's the only thing the jumps to mind right now. Feel free to chime in with suggestions for me.

Arial |

Exciting ... Wow!
As I don't think I know anybody here, the path of least resistance is to let the story reflect that, and have us be strangers. By 9th level, we're probably heroes of some renown, and it makes sense that we would be called in by the powers that be.
Depending where we start, it's possible Arial would be the local talent. If not, she would be known as the elf who spends most of her time in the Darklands, defending Kyonin from the enemy below, whether it be dark elves or demons or whatever.

I'm happy to zap you with your Mage Armor wand whenever you like. As a matter of fact, I have a spring-loaded wrist sheath waiting for a wand. :D
Also, I have Fly on my spell list... not that you shouldn't get a potion of Fly if you want it, but I'm happy to share spells to benefit the team.
In terms of Senna's build, I'm almost done. The only thing I have left to do is decide which of my spells gets specialized. Unfortunately, my heavy hitter spells are maxed out in terms of their damage. So if I specialize one of those, all it will do is increase my CL check against SR and/or improve my concentration check. So I'm tentatively thinking of specializing in Scorching Ray until next level (when I can specialize a 5th level spell). The bonus to Scorching Ray will let me fire off a third ray... so it potentially means more damage in addition to the CL bonuses.

Senna has made a serious effort to stay beneath the public's radar. My hope is there would be nothing more than maybe an occasional rumor about her, but I'll leave that to Lucendar. Senna's link to the Emissary put him in position to see her in action so I could be an 'improbable invite' as opposed to a well known hero.

Tahrk Boulderbreaker |

I'm also still pondering whether to take a straight +2 weapon, or a +1 furious one. And on the other hand if adamantium is worth it for the main weapon... Maybe keep it on a secondary one to break down doors? :D

Senna Proviso |

Tough choices, Tahrk. Since furious only works while you are raging, I guess the questions to ask are: How many rage rounds do you have? Can you rage-cycle?
If you are maximizing your rage ability and expect to rage into most battles, it could be worth it.
Adamantine weapons are always a tough choice to my mind. When you need them, they are great... but at +3000 GP on any weapon - ouch. For that kind of change you can buy a whole other cool magic item that will see more use day to day.

Tahrk Boulderbreaker |

I've got 19 rage rounds a day, which I hope will be enough in most cases. So I guess the answer is yes to raging most of the time - which is also my 'shtick' for the DR thing ;)
The added cost for adamantine is a flat amount per weapon, or does it depend on weight, or being heavy/light weapons? (I could look it up, but I am kicking it at the beach so...). Just wondering if it is best to add it to a secondary weapon until I am in front of Herolab, to have it answer my question :D

Senna Proviso |

19 rounds makes furious quite tempting although I wouldn't bet on the DM limiting our combat rounds on any given day. :D. I DM more than I play and I'd laugh myself silly if one of my players assumed I was going to play that nice... Of course, I have a reputation for being an absolute bastard of a DM. Lucendar may be inherently less eeevil than me.
I believe Adamantine is a flat +3000 GP whether it is a dagger or an axe. As I recall, that is the price for any 'melee weapon'.

Lucendar |

I'm not evil, though Gerald may disagree. I tend to be ruthless though. :) And yes, adamantine weapon is a flat fee +3000 gp. Tark, Arial, and Jay, please use Senna's statblock in your Race/Class tabs. Include your CMD as well in case of grappling or tripping.
I'm going to need all of your help monitoring your rolls/AC/resistance/etc., since higher level games tend to be buff-friendly.

Jaydavu |

Lol, lucendar is one of my most favorite dm's! He's killed me a time or two, but that's part of the game! He's really good at creating challenging encounters to send the the party right to the brink, but I don't think he's hit us with a tpk yet, knock on wood. I guarantee we will all have a fun time!

I feel your pain. I make a point of linking stuff copiously - both on my character sheet and in posts. So you'll likely see me post spell links and effects along with a Status spoiler on pretty much every combat post, like so:
===================================================
<Insert lovely fluff text here>
MOVE: to L46
STAND: Cast Fireball at J23
Fireball
RANGE: 400' + 40'/level ; 20' radius; Bloodline (+1 DAM per die), Tattoo (+1 CL), Spell Focus (+1 DC)
EFFECT: DAM: 10d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 2, 3, 2, 5, 4, 2, 5, 2, 4) + 10 = 45
SAVE: Reflex v DC:19 for 1/2
1st Spells (8): x
2nd Spells (7):
3rd Spells (7): x
4th Spells (5):
Dancing Light (3):
Dragon Breath (1):
Vest Spell (1):
Rod of Max (3):
Claws (8):
Spell Effects:
Mage Armor - +4AC - 9 hours
Perb's Inspire Courage - +2 ATT/ Charm Saves - Rnd 1 of x
===============================================================
If there is any other way I can assist in keeping things comprehensible, let me know.

Arial |

I think I'm ready to rock.

Lucendar |

Yes, please include saves for spells and links to special abilities when you use them, if possible. Anything to make my life easier I would appreciate.
I will look at each character with a fine tooth comb tomorrow and input them into my Herolab, as that will also help me with buffs. If possible, list gp value for all magic items on your sheet. Thanks.

Senna Proviso |

Hey Lucendar, it just occurred to me that I might be able to 'fly blind'. If so, I'd like to amend my last action a wee bit and have Senna take off and gain a little altitude, moving maybe 15' up and diagonally away from the drow.

![]() |

Didn't really see anything which looks suitable for Perblentious. He's already got his headband slot used so the wisdom item doesn't help him, and he really doesn't try to fight.
We should probably just track value as a big pool. and then if people opt for stuff, they get the value deducted. Then if the rest gets converted to gold, we can split up the gold appropriately.

Senna Proviso |

Lucendar, regarding the mithril shirt... could I use Identify and Detect Magic to try to analyze the additional magic on it? I don't want to use my 1/day casting on Identify at the moment given we are early in the adventuring day... but it's something I'd consider doing when we stop for the day.

Senna Proviso |

In terms of loot division, if we go with a cash value method such as Perb offered, I'd suggest that we DON'T count team benefit items against that total... so whoever ends up holding the Wand of CMW for example shouldn't have that count as part of their share.

Senna Proviso |

Yeah, I was wondering about her as well.
Just to keep things organized, I'm building an excel sheet where we can track who has what and the value of their goods... just so we can keep things roughly balanced when distributing cash and whatnot. I'll post it online when I've got it finished. If anyone has an objection, speak up. Personally, I'd rather do to the job but I think it needs doing. Also, (assuming no one objects to me doing the job), I'll poke you guys about distribution, claiming goods, etc... just so we can get through loot distrib quicker.
Again, speak up if you'd rather have the job or don't agree with it.

Senna Proviso |

Yeah, I will be putting it into Google docs in their 'Excel-like' application.
Regarding the DEX gloves, I don't have an objection. Yeah, most of us could use and benefit from them but I'm cool with someone on the front-line having them.
Who can use the Ring of Protection +1?
In terms of the other goods, most of it appears 'sellable' unless you guys have your heart set on any of the armors. My suggestions for what we keep are:
Wand of CMW - Perb could carry it for the team?
2 pots of Lesser Restoration - distributed to different people as a 'team carry'
Periapt of Wisdom - seems a shame to sell it. Davu could use it to goose his AC another point or I could use it to improve my Will Save and boost a few skill rolls. But if that isn't compelling, we can sell it.
Arrows - assuming we still have an archer, these might be nice to keep.
Finally, I'd like to keep the Mithril Chain until we know exactly what it does.
Thoughts?

Senna Proviso |

@ Perb - Are you interested in any of the armors?
@ Davu - Ah. If the type of bonus is the same (which is likely) then yeah they don't stack.

Senna Proviso |

OK, then I'll put the other armors on the Sell List.
So here is what I have in terms of KEEPS:
Arial:
?8 Adamantine Arrows
?8 Cold Iron Arrows
?4 Silver Arrows
Davu:
Gloves of DEX +2
Perb:
Wand of CMW (carrying for the team)
Senna:
Periapt of WIS +2 (I'm happy to loan this out to Perb if he needs extra casting OOMPH periodically)
Tark:
Greataxe +1
TEAM KEEPS:
2 pots of Lesser Restoration (I'd suggest we have the front-liners carry these)
Ring of Pro +1 (can anyone use this?)
Mithril Chain +1 with serious magic on it (keep until we can determine what it can do)
Are we all good with this?
