DM Dickie |

Greetings fellow seeker of adventure!
I am Sheila Heidmarch, Venture Captain of the newest Pathfinder Society lodge-and the only such lodge in Varisia at this time. You have come to my attention as someone who possess a certain amount of skills and interests that make you an excellent addition to a highly specialized team I'm putting together for a matter of grave import, not only to the Society, but to Varisia as a whole. Please report an hour before noon to Heidmarch Manor. You will be compensated for your visit, but that reward will pale in light of the riches that await you should we come to an agreement on my proposition to you. I look forward to meeting you soon!
-Sheila Hidemarch
I am looking for 5 players who are ready to take control of their career with the Pathfinders by investigating strange happenings, finding ancient monuments, meeting isolated tribes of monsters, and delving dungeons all in search of ancient artifacts. If you would like to apply for this expedition, just submit a character using the criteria below!

Ok. My initial thought is Shaman Animist .
I only just read the initial excerpts about the AP, and found this archetype.
It feels right....
More researching, but thinking Shaman.
EDIT @ anyone who is in a game with me.
How crazy should he be....lol?

Dear Captain Heidmarch
A most interesting proposal, following the conclusions of hostilities between my former employer and Cheliax, I am indeed most open to seeking employement in a location as dynamic as Magnimar.
My skillset is unusually broad, including the full suit of diplomatic skills, backed up and reinforced by primal violence on demand, rounded up by a fair bit of stealth and knowledge skills, as well as a degree of talent for smithing skymetal.
I look forward eagerly to meet you in person.
Signed,
Ragnar af Gundrun.
Mostly ready actually.
What he will be mechanically:
--Bloodrager Party face, will have all 3 face skills (but no sense motive), from either fey magic and/or extremely fashionable.
--Quite intelligent at 14 int, although substantive knowledge checks will take a bit.
--Irrepressible + skymetal smith should cover will save issues, some of them at least :).
--2 handed combatant with 14 Dex, combat reflexes and power attack, nothing too special mechanically. Does Axes out of Pragmatism, because Kellid Mercs with Axes get paid more.
--Can Stealth along with a scout, but is not a full scout.
Personality traits:
--Flamboyant, pragmatic and quite friendly.
--Quite civilized
--Occassionally distraught at the carnage he causes while in enraged
--Cocky
--Is a Flirt
--Is a Kellid (although from Numeria rather then Sarkoris), does have a hangup with his Abyssal Bloodline.
--Strongly dislikes Baphomet and Deskari.
--Pursued by the Sisterhood of the Golden Erinyes for a warcrime he did not commit.
Good Sir. Ragnar spoke to the alley thug who was writhing in his grip.
I am uncertain as too how thoroughly you appreciate the severity of your situation. You may have noticed already that I am NOT the city guard. You may have also noticed, that I do possess... Ragnar forces the thugs head to look towards Ragnars other hand, which turned into an Abyssal claw and left a clear scratch mark on the nearby wall. Certain Abyssal physiological features. Now, you can either tell me where the hell your cutpurse put my money, or we wait, for either the city guard, or for my Bloodline to turn my physiological into well, psychological features.
Meaning, in back alley thug parlance, that the Abyssal taint in my blood goes into my head, I grow a maw, become Abyssally Angry and eat your face, thus contributing to making Magnimar more attractive. Entirely your choice.
Ragnar ended the night richer then he had started it, and looked with some smugness on news that the city guard wished information on a possibly Abyssal beast with claws strong enough to leave a mark in stone walls. He was not Ragnar if he couldnt turn this into a lucrative "get paid for doing nothing" contract.

Anansi the Spider |

This is Dorian Grey's work in progress!
Halfling Shaman [Animist]
Question: Can a Halfling be of a Shoanti tribe?
Life among the Skoan-Quah revolves around death. Whether they are fighting against undead, acting as guardians for the deceased among all the clans, or tracking the oral history of the Shoanti people, the enigmatic and sinister members of the Skull Clan sometimes trouble even the most understanding of their fellow Shoanti.[18] They dwell among the burial grounds of the eastern Cinderlands and the Mindspin Mountains.[2]
Bones and skulls are favored tattoos. Popular runes are Sosmo (Forever Dead), Eiril (Duty), and Graxt (Eternity). Revered totems are ancestor spirit, earth elemental, giant scarab beetle, vulture, will-o'-wisp, and wolf.[13]

Ragnar's campaign trait selection confused me...A little investigation told me why: This page from D20PFSRD has a big error on it. It looks like Iron Gods traits are merged with SS'.
Alabaster Outcast
Exchange Agent
Ex-Sczarni
Monument Scholar
Nontraditional Native
Ruin Raider
Serpent Runner
So yeah, if you're using that site, be aware that most of the tech traits are not so useful!

Dragoncat here, with his submission: an impulsive elven warrior poet, hailing from the faraway land of Jinin!
"There once was a place I had been ... the faraway land of Jinin

and now it's the home of my kin."
Thanks, I'm here all week folks ;)

Halfling Shaman [Animist]
Question: Can a Halfling be of a Shoanti tribe?
** spoiler omitted **
Missed that question at first. For just for story purposes, it's no biggie. Obviously to receive any sort of real mechanic-related benefit you would need something like the Adopted trait or a similar trait, feat, etc. as a buy-in rules wise. I would consider that close enough to qualify for additional feats or whatever which require being born into that (or another) society.

Reldak Vol |

This will be Krinox Haab's alias for this game, a human wizard with the Monument Scholar campaign trait.
The character is under construction, and I've got most of his crunch done, but (planned) family arriving from out of town is going to delay completion until at least tomorrow.
Just wanted to make sure my interest was clear if this starts filling up early. ;)

Ahhh, I wondered why those where in there! I was like "HEJ FREE WILL SAVE VS FEAR YES I WANT" and Eh, why are there technomancy traits in shattered star? Isnt it mostly Runelords?.
Like, I could not use Wis as a dump stat, but I like having characters with a clear weakness that a GM can exploit.I would probably replace it with exchange agent, and joink the handle animal version. Having one character being able to do a "face with animals" thing can be reasonable, and well, Mercenaries do interact a lot with animals so it makes a good bit of sense.

A naive noble do-gooder and a completely amoral(not antimoral, amoral) cynical mercenary will make a great source of banter! As well as a dynamic were Rosabel (probably) wants to redeem Ragnar, while Ragnar (almost certainly) wants to bring Rosabel to a more "realistic" view of the world.

I'm building a ranged Inquisitor to submit. I'd like to do something really tied into Magnimar so I'm looking at the Empyreal Lords as possible divine patrons, maybe Bharnarol, maybe Arshae.
Arshae is very cool. Bharnarol has a thing about keeping dangerous inventions out of the wrong hands. That could be a great motivator for my character in this case.

Dorian 'Grey' |

@ DM Dickie would it be legal to choose both Animist and Speaker for the Past archetypes?
The only overlap is at 12th. Although, Speaker states may choose a hex, so perhaps legal?
The flavor is way to cool to ignore!
Apologize for multiple posts. But I am finding myself enjoying this build.

Izabelia Nirodin |

Alright, crunch and fluff (appearance, personality and backstory) now complete on her character profile! :)
Time for a little IC flavour.
Izabelia looked at Nico, possibly for the last time; her cornflower blue eyes bright with unshed tears, embarrassment at her open emotion evident in the flush of her pretty face. Nico didn't like feelings or the expression of them and she would not use hers to guilt him from the criminal path he had chosen to walk (well not entirely).
"You know my circumstance, Nico. If I would prove myself to my family, show I am better even as they discarded me, then I cannot do it through such notoriety. This is not a life I saw for myself; even for my recklessness, I am no thief or villain and neither are you. I wish you would reconsider the Sczarni. You are better than them and I say this to you as my closest friend and confident. Come, let us away, back to Magnimar to find our own fortunes. We will succeed, I know this in my heart! We are not our families and their fortunes and misfortunes. We are Bel-Bel and Nico!" A tear managed to fall down her reddened cheek. "I'm leaving tonight. I'll wait for you behind the Rusty Dragon. If you don't arrive by the late evening bell, I'll leave without you. I love you, Nico. Whatever your decision, know I am your friend, always."
Nico's drawn expression made her sad and she wished she could enfold him in her arms and protect him. It is his life. You have no right to demand he leave. You just wish he would. Izabelia turned on her heels and began to make her way to the harbour as the tears she had held at bay began to fall silently down her face. A lone gull flew overhead and cried out angrily and Izabelia's heart clenched as if it were some warning. Please come back with me to Magnimar, Izabelia wished silently and fervently. Nico was a proud and stubborn man. Perhaps his love for her would make him see reason/sense. Perhaps it wasn't enough. Izabelia sent a silent prayer unto the sky. Either way, I must make my own mark. If I must do it alone, then that is my burden.
If there are blatant errors with the crunch or other issues, I'm happy to correct them. Thank you for your consideration, DM Dickie. :)

Yeah, seems okay since they have different impacted class Features for each. I actually like seeing interesting combos like that.
I'm getting a lot of interested parties here, so I'm glad I stuck the cap on submissions in, lol.

Ventiine |

@Ragnar av Gundrun I love your character’s name. It's very fitting for a bloodrager. Rosabel could definitely be considered as naive by others but she wouldn't call herself that. She'd probably have a lot of (what she'd call) suggestions for Ragnar. For example, she'd want Ragnar to kill his enemies as efficiently as possible to minimize pain and suffering.
@DM Dickie A tiny addendum to my rushed post: all mentions of Iomedae should read Sarenrae. Oops XD
I've enjoyed reading everyone's character concepts. :) I'm going to go silent as to not gunk up this thread. Best of luck to all!

DM Dickie |

Are you going to be running multiple tables?
I don't see me handling multiple versions of the same game well, TBH. I'd be worried I would get situations and events confused between the two, even with notes lol. It is something I've considered in the past, but I don't think my schedule could handle it right now.
I will think about it, but I doubt I will take that option.

Blythe Astor |

Blythe Astor, a female human from Corentyn, Cheliax.
The daughter of the notorious 'Bleeding Rosa', Blythe has always been into gun-running. While she herself is not wanted in as many countries as her mother was, she still travels with caution. Gun-running paid her bills...most of the time...but the things that fire her up are corruption in the governments of the world and oppression of vulnerable people.
Most recently she delivered a shipment of hand cannons to a rather large, gray-skinned merchant in Magnimar, who was taking them to somewhere in the Iron Peaks. She doesn't ask questions.
She's stopped by Magnimar to visit her aunt Amele, Uncle Alergast, and little Aeren and Verah, whom she has not seen since they were infants.
She is from Corentyn, Cheliax, called Port Indomitable, or the City of Nine Forts.
She is a ninja, and will take levels in gunslinger (mysterious stranger). Her current build is roughly what she will be, but is not to your specs yet. If I'm chosen I will adjust everything as the group goes through introductions and whatnot.
She carries a broken gun that was her mother's before she died at sea against the Magnimaran navy (as far as she knows).
She is Chaotic Neutral. What that means for me: She is not chaotic annoying. The way I play CN is this:
"I trust my gut, and I don't judge. I fight for “them” that cannot fight for themselves. I will burn the system down to save as many people as I can, and I will sacrifice myself or anyone else for the cause. The system IS the corruption."
She is not about obeying laws and distrusts authority. She believes that killing one innocent to save five is the right call. She believes in a "cause" almost more than individuals who might be a part of that cause.
So if she can do something that "hurts the slave-lords of Sandpoint" she will choose that before she would choose to help an individual slave sometimes. She will (hopefully) grow out of that mindset. It is a mindset of conflict that is preferable to nurturing and is really about protecting herself emotionally from feelings of responsibility and shame.
Blythe grunted as her face was slammed into the wet pavement. She could feel a cut on her cheek as the city guard who was accosting her put his knee in her back.
He laughed, searching through her pockets, being a bit free with his wandering hands. "Who do we have here?" he said, drawing out her papers. "Yadira Larke. From Qadira. Age 64. Well, that seems unlikely."
The other guards laughed. They were detaining several street urchins, who were trying to yank their elbows free and run.
"I'm going to slit your throat in front of the magistrate, and he's going to thank me you pompous—oof!"
The guards broke out laughing as Blythe was struck in the face again. One of the children kicked the guard holding her hard in the shin, shoved one of the other guards, and in the ensuing tussle all three kids scrambled away, ignoring the yells pursuing them out of the alley.
Blythe laughed, dirty water getting in her mouth. The guard hissed at her. "What's so funny, missy? Got what you wanted? Those little beggars got away, and you're the hero, yeah?"
"I don't give a toss, you moron. I wasn't trying to free them. I was just trying to beat your shorter-than-I-thought-possible ass for thinking you had a right to harass them." She strained to peer back over her shoulder, then at the other guards. "Seriously. How is he that short?"
With a menacing growl, the guard punched her face into the cobblestones again, and the others joined in, kicking her everywhere. Blythe grunted and cried, trying to scream in anger, in rage, almost laughing as she sobbed through what was surely one of her ribs being broken.
Suddenly, a huge boom echoed through the ally. The guards tripped over themselves and her as they fled.
The water on the ground tasted coppery now. Or perhaps that was her. Her vision was blurry, the world wavering as the clouds opened up, rain splashing down like a haunting embrace, its cold fingers caressing her skin as a dark figure loomed over her, stooping low.
She gave in to the embrace, her consciousness sinking below the waves into deep, quiet, peace.

This is Aceofmoxen's Submission, Mallory Miller, a human Inquisitor of Iomedae. Crunch is in Profile.
Mallory shrugged her massive shoulders. ”I don’t really care what we do.” She thought a moment. ”Normally, I prefer to solve problems with talking, but I can tell that these goblins would care nothing for peace. They would speak any falsehood to convince us, and they turn around a betray us. However,” She clutched her holy symbol. ”Iomedae wills us to give them the chance to do good. Despite their nature, perhaps we should try for peace.”

Ragnar av Gundrun |

EiTR really reduces the time that passes before builds come *online*.
While it is less impactfull on Ragnar, who, has a 2 handed power attack guy, never is "incomplete", he still could have *powerfull maneuvers* (working as improved Sunder) and whirlwind attack on level 7. And have feats to burn for like, combat reflexes/iron will or exotic weapon proficiency.
I would recommend setting monster HP to maximum to compensate, EITR essentially gives out power attack and combat exerptize for free, makes weapon focus a lot more useful and unlocks many combat maneuvers.
You also dont need weapon finesse, and 2 weapon fighting becomes less bad as well.
Dont forget that it also applies to monsters. In my view, just adding some feats to a monster is fun, keeps metagaming players on their toes and does not take undue effort for the GM.

Magdali Kiritescu |

Magdali here is still a work in progress, but her broad outlines are in place. Since there are so many spellslingers among the applicants, I dropped the Inquisitor idea and went with a Lore Warden Fighter instead.
Her main combat style will be archery, but she's a half-elf of Varisian extraction who has the Nontraditional Native trait so carries a Bladed Scarf for tripping goodness when archery isn't quite the remedy.
If Variant Multi-Classing is alright, I'm leaning toward a Bard VMC. It synchronizes really well with the Lore Warden's Know Thy Enemy ability to make her the party enemy weakness identifier. I like the idea of her being sort of the sheepdog to the rest of he party. She guides them to where they're going safely, points out dangers, and protects them so they can do their discovering. Later on she could even inspire them with encouraging words.
As Ragnar mentioned EitR is pretty nice for quality of life on feat starved classes. Of course fighters have plenty of feats, so it doesn't matter a lot to me. But archery is feat intensive, and adding a combat maneuver style doesn't help. Also some feats would be going toward the VMC if she can do it.
In Magdali's case it helps her come together faster since she doesn't have to wait levels to pick up Weapon Finesse and Power Attack, and unifies all the improved maneuver feats into one. She could try disarm when there's the chance. Normally disarm isn't worth a feat. She might even be able to pick up a quality of life feat or two; I'd like to at least take Deific Obedience: Ashava if I can fit it in.

Caroliss Kaddren |

Hello! This is Caroliss Kaddren, a character from another defunct Shattered Star game. She's a half-elf cleric with the possibility of becoming a Mystic Theurge cleric/wizard (but willing to go straight cleric depending on party needs). Details in the alias!
I took the Additional Traits feat for her; if that's a problem, I can take it out and drop some traits. I need to actually purchase items, but otherwise the profile is ready. And here's an example post from her.
Thanks for your consideration!

Blythe Astor |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Ragnar av Gundrun, I didn't realize when I was writing my in-character post, but yours is not too far off mine. Both deal with shady stuff going on in the back alleys. I'm now picturing you and Rosabel getting me out of that, lol.
A human ninja heading to gunslinger (mysterious stranger) dissident, a virtuous human dual-talent cleric of Sarenrae and an amoral cynical mercenary human bloodrager? This is starting to sound fun, lol. Good dynamics there.
