Well, crap. I didn't have a TV when the Monkees were on, so I'll always associate him with the El Dorado Song, and of course Rodanne.

Yeah it’s a given that he’s still alive currently
What’s the point in vaguely intimating that he might be dead? That’s a weird flex.

The difference of course that John Bonham and Neil Peart weren’t also the lead singers of Led Zeppelin and Rush. Nesmith was cast as the lead singer of the fictional band at the time of the shows inception but then they actually began recording and the actual makeup of The Monkees shifted dramatically. Albums list Nesmith as vocalist and lead guitar and list Dolenz as lead singer and drummer.
Micky Dolenz took lead on the majority of the bands output, Davy Jones was lead vocalist on the second largest number of songs with the remained being lead by Nesmith followed by Tork.
Ultimately it was Nesmith who was easily replaced by session guitarists for two and a half decades of Monkees tours, and on the Anniversary album in the mid 80’s. It’s like that drummer comment was made with almost no knowledge of the band. So there’s that.

I was very young and only watched Saturday morning TV. That was one of the best shows airing. They were my first musicians since I didn't really listen to the radio yet.
RIP Michael.
