I see 3 options?
1: I can not take the "way of the spellshot" because I already have a dedication feat?
2:must take the spellshot dedication feat as stated in the way (specific trumps general?)
3:can't take spellshot dedication because I haven't completed my Witch dedication, and get a normal 2nd level class feat?

Yeah, RAW would prevent you from being able to take the Way of the Spellshot level 2 feat because you already have a dedication feat that you haven't paid off. So no Ancient Elf Gunslinger character would ever be able to use Way of the Spellshot.
But that is terrible. Talk to your GM and table and get an exception.

Number 3.
We have been given different ways to get a dedication by lvl 1,but this doesn't mean we can forgo the rules ( it would be like exploiting the ancient elf + arcane trickster, or getting weapon damage dice increase more than once).
The benefit is getting it by lvl 1, saving a lvl 2 class feat.

4) You can not take it because it changes a level 1 class feature of Gunslinger, which is that it forces you to take Way of the Spellshot. You can not take the Archetype if you have already made a choice of which Way you want, as it doesn't change it, it removes all choice in the matter.
You must take this archetype at level 1, and therefore must be a Gunslinger. There is no other way.
If you have the Gunslinger Dedication and take it at level 1, you would violate the rules of Gunslinger Dedication by gaining a second dedication at level 2.
Furthermore, why would you want to take it on top of the dedication? You would have to invest feats into gaining Way abilities, like Slinger's Readiness at level 6 and Practiced Reloads at level 10, which would interfere with any Spellshot feats you might want. And you would never be able to gain Recall Ammunition or Dispelling Bullet.
Spellshot is a great archetype to lead into a Casting dedication or Beast Gunner Dedication, not as an archetype for an archetype.

They arent talking about taking the gunslinger archetype, they specifically called out Gunslinger as the main class.

And while spellshot can lead into casting dedications, waiting until level 4 to get the dedication hurts. Especially for Witch since that means that you aren't getting Basic Lesson and your first focus spell until level 6 at the earliest. And that is if you are still running with just cantrips. If you also want spell slots, then either the spell slots or the focus spell has to wait until level 8.
Sorry. Realized that the spellshot dedication has the restriction on needing two additional feats. So that puts Witch dedication at level 10 (since spellshot has no 4th level class feat and no skill feats). Which means focus spell at level 12 and both focus spells and low level spell slots at level 14.
That's a character concept killer. Will not work.

Whoops. I just saw the title and assumed as such since that has been asked a lot recently lol.
