Help pls, What is the difference between Returning and Ricochet Toss

Rules Discussion

I don't understand what's the difference between each of these?, I think that Ricochet Toss is poorly reacted

ricochet toss is amazing and super powerful.
returning is lackluster.

returning
This special ability can only be placed on a weapon that can be thrown. A returning weapon flies through the air back to the creature that threw it. It returns to the thrower just before the creature’s next turn (and is therefore ready to use again in that turn). Catching a returning weapon when it comes back is a free action. If the character can’t catch it, or if the character has moved since throwing it, the weapon drops to the ground in the square from which it was thrown

it comes back AFTER your current turn, doesnt come back if you move, can only be used to make 1 attack. a smart opponant can use their turn to pick it up and not let you retrieve it.

ricochet toss
When you make a ranged attack with an appropriate thrown weapon, the weapon returns to your hand immediately after the attack is resolved.

throw, and automatically its in your hand again immediately after the opponenet is damaged. allowing you full round attacks with rapid shot even, and you still have a weapon in your hand at the end of your turn.
