I don't play multiplayer at all, and I like the game - single player was around 20 hours for me and I think I have seen most of the side quests. Voice acting isn't always the best and the first boss-battle seemed bit...drawn out to me, but the game gets better and better after the first hour. I like the atmosphere and the dark humor of the ghost companion.
I would recommend it.

Alas,
I bought Skullgirls last night instead. It looked fun and I was wanted to try a good fighting game and it is said to have an excellent tutorial and training mode which prepares you for most fighting games. I say "alas" because I didn't do my due diligence and read the manual or investigate it thoroughly. It wants a six button controller if you don't want to use the keyboard.
I'm kinda wishing I had gone with Van Helsing.
But I have to run an errand this afternoon so I might check the local Gamestop, they might have such a controller.

If your talking about the adventures of Van Helsing it's not too bad. I certainly enjoyed playing it - it's a little like diablo 2/3 in appearance and controls. The levels and monsters are varied enough for the most part (become s a little repetitive later in the game), some of the monsters are quite cool in a cooky and bizarre way.
