ok so for a build im casting possess object to create a mobile suit gundum / mech (possess a huge statue at level 9 using slam attacks -cliffs notes version).
posses object functions as magic jar , magic jar states that:
"If you are successful, your life force occupies the host body, and the host’s life force is imprisoned in the magic jar. You keep your Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, level, class, base attack bonus, base save bonuses, alignment, and mental abilities. The body retains its Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, hit points, natural abilities, and automatic abilities. A body with extra limbs does not allow you to make more attacks (or more advantageous two-weapon attacks) than normal. You can’t choose to activate the body’s extraordinary or supernatural abilities. The creature’s spells and spell-like abilities do not stay with the body."
specifically the lines: "You keep your Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, level, class, base attack bonus, base save bonuses, alignment, and mental abilities."
so keeping your scores makes sense, your level and class make sense , bab , saves , alignment all make sense.
HOWEVER
what about class abilities ??? they seemingly have been ambiguously ignored , but WAIT , "Mental abilities"
so what is the definition of a mental ability ???? or is it a generalized umbrella term for any ability that doesn't use any physical activity (or by my logic that is what it would mean).
so by this definition would certain class abilities , supernatural abilities , extraordinary abilities , ext be able to be used when using posses object/magic jar ?
for example would a monk (via scroll or multiclass) by able to add her wisdom to her ac while in a possed body. As in my opinion its a "mental ability" .it uses a mental score and in flavor its the monk using her experience in battle and her perception/cunning to predict and foresee there opponents actions to doge the attack (hence the ac boost). ?
another example is the barbarian rage , being so angry to the point it causes you to rage out surely counts as a mental ability ? as its impacted and caused by the emotions of the barbarian ???
so what are people thoughts on this o is there any exact rulings because from my research its left entirely ambiguous.
save me community forums , your my only hope.
