Hi everyone! So I'm not currently part of the PFS, however I've started running the scenarios as "side games" for my group when a player is missing for our regular game. I've decided to hand out the boons that are normally issued after completing a scenario but then noticed that some boons don't offer an immediate benefit. Instead, they do nothing now but mention they may do something in a later scenario (the titled boons are examples of this)
My curiosity has gotten the best of me, so I tried to find out how this works but couldn't find anything online. Could anyone tell me how boons that say "This boon will have unique benefits and consequences when slotted in a future scenario." actually work? If you can point me at the scenario where it resurfaces, I'm more than happy to read it myself to find out!
Thank you in advance

That one has not shown up, yet.
They're also moving away from that style of boon, and (almost always) just asking if the character (or in some cases the player/across all characters) has played a particular scenario. They've said they might use the checkboxes in the scenario summary in lieu of the 'future scenarios might reference this boon" style things, but I don't think we've seen one yet.
I think in most cases when they put a boon in like that, it was purely because 'hey this could be a cool plot hook' not 'and we already know what we want to do with it'
I think Quest 4s shows up in 1-20 in a very minor way, which is the only future scenario boon that I think has turned up that wasn't just 'did you play this scenario'.

It varies depending on the scenario and boon. Sometimes they make a specific skill check written into the scenario easier. Maybe an NPC gives you a minor item when you run into them again. Or treats you better (or worse) because of the actions you took to earn that boon. Or maybe you just get a little extra bit of exposition.
Many of those kinds of boons are dangling plot hooks that may be revisited in the future but currently don't have any use.
In general it is considered against the spirit of PFS to make a list of boons and their effects because they constitute spoilers. In your particular case since you are the GM (and you are not actually reporting these as PFS games) it's not a big deal if you read ahead. But you will (hopefully) not find a PFS player keeping a list of boons.

Thank you both! It's good to know how they are currently used, and the future plans for these boons. I may just track which of their characters do which scenerio, rather than list the boon on their sheet since it sounds like those types of boons are going away.
And yeah, I've debated on participating in PFS (Ironically, I'd probably end up talking to Eric as a fellow Boston resident), but currently GM them as non-reported side games. I'm also starting from year one onward, so if I were to be a plyer, I'd only know the first like...7.
Thank you both for your responses, it was a huge help!

I am pretty sure I saw one that was "If the PC has a chronicle from X-0X with thus and such box checked, so-and-so thanks them for their efforts on her family's behalf."
