So I was looking at building my 2nd character since my first just passed the 1-4 threshhold. I want to make a character who uses an animal companion and fighter with cavalier dedication seemed like a really fun way to do it. Horses however seemed a little boring to me.
I was wondering since the wording of the cavalier dedication doesn’t specify “common” animal companions with the mount trait if I could get a Riding Drake instead. Would pledging myself to a wyrmkin diety (such as Apsu) make any difference?
I gather that this may be a stretch but since the Riding drake is standard on AON I thought it may be worth to ask.

Cavalier not specifying Common does not bypass rarity and access in any way. You're still choosing from animal companions that you have access to, which means Common ones or ones that you have Access to in some other way.
As for pledging yourself to a deity... that's the sort of thing that you could possibly work out with the GM in a home game, but for PFS, that is the type of thing that would need to be set up as an option in this campaign. There is nothing currently there that you can use to access the Riding Drake by pledging to an order or deity in PFS.
As for AoN listing the Riding Drake as Standard Availability, remember that Standard doesn't mean available, Standard means that the rarity and access printed in the book are unchanged in PFS. So Standard Availability on an Uncommon option in PFS means that you cannot take that option without something (a feat, an Access condition, a chronicle, a boon, etc) saying that you can.

Ah thank you for the breakdown.
Guess il have to stick it out with horse until something more interesting gets printed or a boon gets printed that gives me access.

I agree that a horse is a boring option. Is there currently a common animal companion with the mount trait that isn't a horse or pony? Cavalier was my first and one of my favorite classes that I played in PF1 and I would like to take it for a spin in PF2.
Camels, but they aren't common.

In PFS they're purchasable with ACP. In non PFS, most GMs would probably allow them.
I'm having lots of fun with my Gnome riding his Battle Llama (the camel entry explicitly lists Llama as having the same stats as a camel).
It is just slightly conceivable that I'm not taking the character 100% seriously, mind :-). But its actually reasonably effective, at least in level 1 Bounties :-) :-). And I get to use the phrase "Battle Llama" at least twice a session :-) :-)

Camels are actually Common. The problem is that they're not in a sanctioned source that you can use by owning it, but in an adventure. The only boon I know to Access them of is associated with having completed the adventure that they were published in, not an open purchase for ACP. What boon am I missing, here?

Sorry, I DID complete that adventure and so got access to the boon. I'd forgotten that it was somewhat restricted.
