Hello all, I have a question regarding a feat that may seem silly to some, but I can't seem to find an answer to it via internet searching. Usually my Google fu is not weak, but I am unable to find clarification ya or nay.
I'm playing in a 2e campaign and the GM let me play the Magus from the Secrets of Magic playtest. My question concerns the 1st level Magus feat Combat Assessment. Does the attack that is part of this feat do damage or no? The feat doesn't say whether the attack still does damage or not. I am saying it does (of course I am heh) and the Gm is saying no because of wording like "telegraphed". I'm just looking to clarify one way or the other.
Thanks for any answers in advance!

The feat doesn't say, because the feat says to make a Strike. That means you use all the rules of a Strike except where specifically noted otherwise. That includes dealing damage.

There's an obscure section in the core rules on "subordinate actions" which is mostly to prevent stuff like using Snagging Strike within Combat Assessment, but probably also helps to clarify this matter a bit. As far as I recall, if it says you do the thing, you do it except where specifically modified, so yeah, it's a real Strike that deals damage.

I wouldn't call Subordinate Actions an obscure rules section. It's right at the core of how a ton of feats and abilities are used. It's very much part of the fundamentals in this system.
