Dumb Sorcerer question

Rules Discussion

Hey guys I just got my hands on pathfinder 2e and I think some of my group would enjoy it. So I'm trying to go over the classes I know they'll gravitate towards so I can help them out. One of my players loves the wizard in 5e but I think all the spell prepping of pathfinder might throw him off so I'm planning on trying to sell him on the sorcerer so he doesn't get turned off by the system before he gives it a shot.

Anyways I'm trying to learn the sorcerer and it says it adds spells to it's repertoire every time it gains spell slots. So if I'm reading this right it should know 4 spells per a spell level except level 1 which it knows 2 at first and learns 1 more at level 2, and level 10 it'll know 1. Is that right? that has it at 36 spells total at level 20 right? That seems like a lot for a spontaneous caster. Of course I'm just learning the system so it might not be as impressive as I think.

Yeah, pretty much.

Lvl 1 - 3 spells know (2 of your choice, 1 bloodline)
Lvl 2 - +1 spell

Repeat until lvl 19 where you gain a single 10th slot and 2 spell know for that slot, for a total of 38 spells know.

At level 1, the sorcerer knows the first level granted spell from their bloodline plus two additional first level common spells of their choice.

At level 2, the sorcerer gains a first level spell slot, so also gain another first level common spell of their choice to add to their repertoire.

At level 3, the sorcerer gains three second level spells slots, so gain three second levels for their repertoire. The first of which will be the second level granted spell from their bloodline.

All spells except cantrips, 10th level spells, and focus spells follow this progression.

So at 20th level, the will know a total of 36 spells (four of each level of spell 1st through 9th. One spell of each spell level will be a signature spell. Additionally, the will know 5 cantrips (one of which will be granted from their bloodline), as well as 2 10th level spells.

Thank you guys trying to cram this system as fast as possible to be ready to run it so I just had to make sure.

Liberty's Edge

I am playing a sorcerer (dracvonic, bronze) now. It's a great class! One thing I have found is that casters have fewer spells than in 1e, but that lower level spells remain useful. Cantrips now scale with caster level, and spell save DC depends on caster level, not spell level.

I have found the Arcane Evolution sorcerer feat quite useful. Either option (an extra signature spell or an additional spell known) is beneficial.
