Question on what adamantium armour applies to from the starship operations book.

The book say's . . .

Adamantine alloy increases a starship’s size category by 1 for the purpose of calculating the cost of its armor; the value of a Supercolossal ship’s size category increases from 8 to 9 for this purpose.

Which seems simple enough if you have adamtanium alloy armour and a medium transport when buying Mk X armour you multiply by 4 not 3 to determine BP cost. However it goes on to say . . .

See Fortified Hull (page 21) for denser adamantine armor.

Which makes things confusing as both fortified hull and reinforced bulkheads multiply BP by size category to determine their cost. So does adamantium armour apply to all BP x ship size costs or ONLY when buying an armour upgrade?

It says it increases the size category by 1 for calculating armor cost. So do that.

It doesn't say it increases the ship's size category for anything else. So don't do that.

Since the names of the other options do not include 'armor' in the title, I assume adamantine armor only applies when buying armor upgrades.
