In university, I studied Chemistry then went into teaching. I now have an M.Sc. and a B.Ed., but work as a patent agent.
In retrospect, I would have done math, then philosophy and then physics, and then studied the nature of God.
I had a glimpse of god in my studying this morning. He was found in actuarial life expectancy tables.

One winter, sick of the weather,
I rubbed two sticks together
they burst into flame
and I screamed in pain,
caught fire, and was toasty forever.

The Flame
One body,
we cup six palms against the night.
Coax this, ask this, urge this to fill our hard hands
curl into every crevice
grow to cause pain.
Perhaps there is a spirit here
an anima with which we three can
imbue this thing of heat and light.
This thing we would see wax fearful.
