Gaedren saved

Curse of the Crimson Throne

Hi, my players decide to save from death Gaedren Lamm and to take him to Korvosian guards for a reward. How do you think the guards will react to this, considering that they act like vigilantes? Gaedren will ends his days in prison? Thanks

I think with all the evidence, the guard would definitely lock him up, despite the vigilantism. If I was you, Gaedren would definitely not end his days in prison. There would be a timely escape, probably towards the end of Seven Days to the Grave. When Blood Veil is at it's peak. He would be an awesome recurring villain, one I would not pass up.

My PCs handed over Gaedren to the Guard too. He was tried in the Arbiter Hall, and a few days later executed.

The adventure can definitely play out with Gaedren surviving. It's not likely, naturally, but if enough characters want to take him alive, then it's a non-zero chance. Case in point, one of the background traits involves clearing the name of someone wrongfully imprisoned for one of Lamm's crimes. Dead men can't acquit someone - not easily anyway - so it's possible that a PC with that background might convince the rest to stay their hands and keep him alive until he confesses to the Guard.

That said, once they take him out of the fishery, they're in for a rude shock - the city's gone to Hell, and the guard likely won't be able to immediately process him. What do they do with him? Where do they go? Does he try to escape? All sorts of fun stuff there!

Spoiler:
Quick execution and have Rolth Lamm find the body and animate it, one more bad guy in the temple.

At the end they decide to behead Gaedren and his body fell into the water pit.

They will meet him again as a skeleton in Rolth's lair.

Thanks all!
