With the listed issues with the Alchemist, is this something future options might address/round out? Or is it a deep seated problem with the class?
ie. Is this a supplementable issue?
The alchemist will likely get increasingly better as new alchemical items are introduced, but some things, such as the Mutagenist's MADness, will take more work to fix.

So if we get a 2E Equipment guide, that will "hopefully" be a happy day for Alchemist players.

Honestly, I see this more as a PF1 Mutagenist doesn't directly convert to a PF2 Mutagenist at the moment.
If you play an Alchemist as a support character with Mutagens, it works just fine, but the "I turn into the Hulk and smash people" of PF1 just isn't there yet.
Archetypes/Class Feats is probably going to be enough to get it there IMO.

A barbarian is not meant to protect allies, and given the armor lack because of rage, it is not suit able as tank.
Barbarians get to tremendous amount of hit points + damage reduction which compensate the lack of armor while raging.
Also, you only consider hits against AC. There are many melee spell attacks targeting Fortitude (Harm for example). Also, against poisoned attacks, the Barbarian will tank better than both Fighters and Champions.
And Barbarians can get attacks of opportunity to block enemies.Barbarians can tank. They are not as good as Champions, but they can do it.
I think a lot of fighter and barbarian tanking is going to be grapple stuff where you take abilities that let you grab and yank targets around. Something can't get at your squishies if you keep manhandling it around.
