Mixing Spheres of Power with "magic" systems other than core?

What are peoples' experiences with SoP mixed with other non-core system like Dreamscarred Psionics, Akashic, various systems by Interjection Games, etc?

Spheres of power generally brings casters down to Tier 3 (ish). That means it plays well with most additions.

Personally, I'm a fan of including Akashic, and maybe Pact Magic, but not psionics. If I'm doing away with vancian casting I don't want Tier 1-2 classes added back in, and I want to avoid abilities based around quadratic growth as much as possible.

I'm actually working on a world that's based on sphere magic and Akashic powers for if I ever get the chance to run again.
