Resistance lowering ability interaction

Rules Discussion

The Exchange

If an ability lowers the resistance of a creature (e.g. Destructive aura), how does that work with a creature with no resistance? Does it have no effect (i.e. resistance stays at 0) or does it "wrap' and introduce a weakness (i.e. the creature takes x additional damage from that type of source)?

It doesn't give a creature weakness. As spells and abilities which gives weakness clearly spell it out.

"Clearly spell out?" That is probably a suboptimal way of responding to most people.

There are 600+ pages with rules scattered throughout and people have had the new version for a day or two. My expectation with the new version is that rules have changed and many times different people will have different understanding of the same rule (e.g. pathfinder 1.0 Pounce rules). Thus, you ask on Rules question forums.

The question was not whether a resistance greater than the damage will give hit points back (that is "clearly" spelled out) but whether the qualities resistance/weakness are on a continuum.

Sovereign Court

It doesn't but if you want more details read the following page:

See Resistance p. 453
See Weakness p. 453
