DD to CotCT

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Has anyone taken characters through Dragon's Demand and after completing the Adventure Path used the reward to take their level 3 DD characters to level 1 CotCT.

If so I'm curious how that played. Its a lot of CotCT scenarios before you get to level 4 and can start getting feats again (admittedly by end of DD you should still have 1 feat to fill.) Also I figure there will be a lot more side ways advancement rather than upward advancement.

Anyways has anyone done this yet. I'm almost done with DD and about to start this path myself.

Another question re DD & CotCT.

Given that the characters from DD have already chosen their role does this preclude them from choosing the Blackjack role when its awarded. (Haven't played far enough to see if this is covered in the rules for the Blackjack role.)

I have not done DD to CotCT yet, but I can point to page 3 of the CotCT storybook which says "also, increase # by the # of the last scenario you completed..." and to the Core rules p. 19 under feats "the maximum number [of a feat type] you may check is equal to the # of the last scenario you completed."

Together I take it to mean that CotCT essentially becomes adventures 4-10 and you can gain one of each feat type per adventure. It's not overpowered because you're also increasing # for banes and adding a wildcard for each adventure completed prior to CotC.

As for choosing the Blackjack role to replace your prior one, while I can't find the possibility mentioned in the rulebook I'd allow it in my games. I'd probably not reallocate power feats to the new role and make someone earn them one at a time as usual, but with one hero point per scenario that wouldn't take long.

Okay so finished 3C yesterday and moved on to CotCT. Read the rules noted above. So I'm assuming that the game should look like the following if completing DD & Moving to CotCT

Start CotCT at adventure 1 but # is considered 4

Add 3 Wildcards (are these permanent i.e. same ones the whole path or choose 3 each scenario?)

All Core and CotCT cards 0-3 are in the Vault. New cards will not be added to CotCT adventure 4 (which will be considered # 7)

That sound right?

Right.

Per Core Wildcard rules (p. 18) you may pick or choose randomly before each scenario, so they can change each time.

The DD storybook's AP award tells you to build the vault with all level 0-3 cards, so that looks right. Won't be culling anything until Adventure 4. Treat # as 3 during Adventures 1-3 (from DD) and throughout the AP increase # by the highest DD scenario you completed (3, per CotCT). So if you play the final scenario # will be 10. Looks right.

Hey all, thanks for this thread. I am/was confused as well.

I see a conflict between the DD reward for the adventure path, where is states you should treat "#" for your next adventure path as 3 for adventures 1, 2 and 3. But in the set up for CotCt is states to "increase #" by the number of the last scenario you completed in DD (which would be 3 if you did the whole thing).

So following the DD reward, I feel like "#" for CotCT should run: 3,3,3,4,5,6,7

But following the set-up in CotCT it would be: 4,5,6,7,8,9,10.

OR the final post above would seem to have it: 3,3,3,7,8,9,10.

thoughts on this?

thanks!
mike

Vic explains in depth here how it works. Basically, you can do it the hard way (CotCT setup) if you want, but if you finish DD, the reward is a somewhat easier method. You do one or the other.

Regardless, I doubt I would ever use either option. While it probably works, CotCT is intended to be played with fresh level 1 characters, and I think (for me and my group) it will be much more fun to play it that way.

thanks for the reply!

I am excited to try it the hard way. My son and I just finished DD and are enjoying Harsk and Lem enough to want to continue their adventure :)

I've now gotten to the point where I have access to the Blackjack Role but my DD to CotCT characters already have their roles.

Is there official word on how to handle this.

Do I lose the opportunity because my characters already have their role cards?

Can one of them swap out a role card for the blackjack role. If so do you reallocate power feats?

Thoughts appreciated.
