@Party: Gwen's 24 to hit missed, so it looks like nat 20's are needed by most of the party (well, as long as people are power-attacking)? This is one tough arcanist :-) It might be worth fighting defensively, for the extra dodge bonus to AC (since it won't, statistically, make any difference to most people's chance to hit)

Gah, no I just can't read. That hit would in fact hit, I read it as 18....Speaking of which, Gwen's action again.

Two arrows coming for our host!
Rapid shot w/mwk longbow +1 str: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 - 2 = 51d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 62
Rapid shot w/mwk longbow +1 str: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 - 2 = 161d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 27
... that was just the warning...

Eric's spell goes off in a flash of light and colour. Basil (I presume) stands back out of the way.
In return, a blast of fiery light comes from the darkness to engulf Erik, but fortunately it passes by him and instead scorches the wall behind him.
Roj's crossbow bolt hammers into the darkness, eliciting a scream of pain and anguish. Gwens shot passes by the side, while Bordan steps forward to implae the creature, causing another cry out.

Eric flinches as the light flashes him by, glad to have been missed by whatever that was, and then casts ghost sound so that terrifying cracks and rumblings begin to sound from the cavern ceiling, as if a cave-in were just about to happen.
Trying to bluff the guy into flying lower.

Borden stabs with his spear again
Attack + Arcane Strike + Power attack 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 5 - 1 = 23 for 1d8 + 4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 3 + 1 = 14
Rojerick Alandsson
Waiting on Basil, I presume. I'll go ahead and post my action for later, since Borden seems to have done so already.
Roj calls upon the healing power of Sarenrae once again, feeling her warmth flow through him. His strength renewed, he loads and fires another bolt, which shines with the sun's light for an instant before bouncing harmlessly off a wall.
Lay on Hands (self): 1d6 ⇒ 3
Light Crossbow: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 10
Damage?: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Arrgghh... lost the post through being stupid!
Eriks spell causes some noises in the distinace, while Basil remains inert.
The thing int he darkness mutters something and points at Erik.
Roj's bolt goes wide as he focuses on healing himself a little more.
Gwen's strike hits some wall of force instead of the creature, but leaves an opening that Bordan exploits with his spear. As his weapon hits, the darkness flickers for a moment, then resumes.

Borden strikes again... wondering about the toughness of this thing.
Power Attack with Arcane Strike 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 1 = 19 for 1d8 + 4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 3 + 1 = 10
Note that all the damage I have been landing counts as magical if that helps
Rojerick Alandsson
Rojerick reloads, and another blazing bolt of light flashes forward from his crossbow toward the thing. He drops it, holding out his hand. "Basil, I think you may be able to reach it with your sword. I'll take the torch."
Light Crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Damage?: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Basil Kettering
With a nod, Basil charges forward, and takes a swing at the creature.
Greatsword: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 2 = 19, for 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16 damage.
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 37.
Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp
Since Gwen has apparently retrieved her greatsword:
Power Attack w/greatsword: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 - 1 = 252d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 4 + 3 = 12
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 61
confirm critical?: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 1 = 242d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3) + 4 + 3 = 12
"Ha!!! Not so smug now, are you?"
Erik Copper
Erik's eyes go wide as a feeling of dread washes over him.
Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
With a yell of unreasoning horror, he turns to flee back into the tunnel.

With Erik's abrupt change of demeanor there is a giggle from the corner, Basil moves forward, but his strike again bounces off the wall of force around the creature.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
A ray of energy strikes out from the cloud, and envelops Roj.
Whatever attack it was that came at him throws Roj's aim off and his bolt again goes wide, meanwhile Gwen positions herself and slams her sword into the mist. There is a crunch as the blade breaks through sinew and bone, and suddenly the room returns to normal. The body of one of the purple dwarf things lands with a thump.
End of combat. 600XP each.

Borden searches the room for body parts that may match what they have found to date - particularly with tattoos and the same skin colouring.

Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Roj feels his muscles weaken, whether from the long day or from some sort of magic, but the effect mercifully stops before becoming overpowering. "Is everyone alright? Are there any more foes?"
Nope, no idea. At the top of the previous page I put together a rough list, but it's really rough. I think we have the legs (from the Otyugh) and the head (on the flesh golem), but I'm not sure about the rest of him.
Erik Copper
Erik takes a moment to gather himself, repeating over and over in his mind, It was just a spell, just a fear spell, I'm not a coward, I'm not...
Still, it takes the discovery of the spellbook to truly snap him out of his fugue, and with alacrity he hops over to the tome and grins, bending down to examine it closely without touching.
"These are often trapped, you know," he says to nobody in particular. "One has to be very careful..."
Casting Detect Magic on the tome and the items.
Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp
Gwen wipes the sweat off her forehead then looks at her companions' faces:
"Is everybody all right? Anybody hurt?"
She approaches Erik and gently puts a hand on his shoulder: "Hey kiddo, it's alright now, we smashed the thing. Take a deep breath, ok?"
Fourth level, yay! Do we level immediately or are we supposed to rest before it kicks in?
Rojerick Alandsson
GM, this might seem like a silly request, but I just looked at the map for this dungeon (I was trying to find all the body parts without re-reading the last 12 pages of gameplay) and it's a maze. Do you think you could, like, 'magical-GM-teleport' us to the arms and whatever else we need?
Other than that request, Roj is all ready to go.

Well, I was sort of assuming that other than a bit of torso that you left because you *have* to walk past it on the way out, that you'd been bagging and tagging the bits as you went. I'm really not into the minutae of walking into every room of a dungeon that you've basically cleared out now, if there's stuff left in, it's gunna get you, or not, but I'm not going to make us roleplay every room again. That seems pointless.
I would like one of you to make sure you've got everything you want, and there is still a room Basil would like to explore, but other than that, we are probably good to be on our way. A general overview of your intentions is what I need.
Borden Read
Explore the final room, do a sweep for body parts that sort of match what we have and try to do a macarbe jigsaw puzzle then bag what we have and leave. Incidently, that was a good boss fight. It had potential to be much nastier if some saves had have been failed

Yeah, there's a potential in the scenario for him to have a couple of minions around too, if you go a slightly different route around, which would be brutal.
Ok, let everyone else chip in and then well see where we are at.
Guinevere "Gwen" Duchamp
+1 Borden & Roj (meaning: yes, a good fight and yes, let's finish exploring). GM could you please take a look at my post in the discussion tab? Thanks :-)

After a little breathing time, you wander back through the maze, carefully collecting those you left to wait, and finally coming across the last door you haven't yet opened.
The door is boarded over, and can be broken down with a DC 24 Strength check or opened with ease if the boards are removed (a noisy process requiring 1d3 ⇒ 1 minutes of work).
Basil Kettering
Basil wordlessly pulls out a crowbar, and begins the process of removing the bars from the door, so that the party's warriors can have a shot at whatever is contained within.
