Hacking Starship possibilites

What kind of things can you do with the with a Starship, if you managed to hack into its computer? Here are my own suggestions.

Basic functions:
-adjust lighting
-adjust temperature
-adjust atmosphere

Advanced Functions:
-Open Airlock
-Activate/Deactivate artificial gravity
-Systems scan for life forms on Starship

Other Advanced functions:
-Turn the Anti Personel weapons on the crew
-Emergency venting of starship (uncontrolled opening of Airlock)
-Overheat power core?
-Power down weapons?

You CANNOT activate the self-destruct protocols.


Most of those seem reasonable.

However, it would vary a lot by ship. Some designers, races, or maintainers might intentionally, physically isolate some of these systems for safety and security.

Additionally, some of these systems (especially power core and venting) might have hard-wired safety controls that prevent extremely dangerous actions via remote access (e.g. via the computer vs. physical access). Some industrial controls systems have such today and circumventing them is harder than gaining regular access.

For the sake of gameplay, I would recommend having, if not gapped systems, systems with greatly increased difficulty to access without first getting to the correct physical entry point. Sneaking/fighting/bluffing your way to the correct terminal to do major things to a system is a heist that can involve the whole party's skills. Making a high computers roll or three and being able to control everything isn't much of an adventure, and setting that precedent would make it a lot harder to move away from, later.
