So I've been toying around with a concept for an Operative who is also a Hellknight, Order of the Chain. I'm thinking of taking the Star Knight archetype, which at 2nd level grants proficiency with heavy armor.
But the Operative's abilities like Evasion and Quick Movement only apply when wearing Light Armor. I'm looking to see if there is any special material or armor upgrade or feature or feat that I am missing that would allow me to have heavy armor that counts as light armor for the purposes of these feats (similar to Mithral in Pathfinder).
I know there are some Armory upgrades that reduce the heavy armor movement penalty or armor penalty and such, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find anything that actually allows it to be counted as light armor.

If there was some sort of upgrade that you could install into heavy armor so that it acted like Iron Man armor, and could basically transform around you as a move action or something, that would also work.
I think my best option thematically within the existing rules is to not actually take the Star Knight archetype, but then get him a Glamered armor upgrade, so he can make his light armor look like Hellknight armor. I could still go with Star Knight and just not wear heavy armor, but giving up a 2nd level ability entirely seems too high a cost to pay for the concept.

Being sneaky is common for operatives, but that doesn't mean it's required. You could definitely use the class just fine without even putting a single skill point into stealth, since the ridiculous number of skills per level and the fact that operatives edge provides a bonus to absolutely everything means you can use the class to build characters that fit all kinds of skill-heavy concepts.
Also, with operatives edge and how low some of the armor check penalties are, you could still be quite sneaky in heavy armor.
Heavy armor tends to have more mod slots, which could be desirable for a gadgeteer kind of concept.
Also, there is some potential synergy with the ability to combine trick attack and the Star Knight level 4 Challenge feature.

Just a question, Why have an operative in heavy armor? Aren't operatives supposed to be sneaky? Heavy armor is the opposite of sneaky? Wouldn't almost any other class be better?
Is there some cool reasoning or theme idea you are going for that I am not seeing?
The reasoning was "Operative Hellknight." More specifically, it would be a Bounty Hunter theme with a Operative Detective specialization. If you go "official" with being a Hellknight and take the Star Knight archetype, then you gain proficiency with heavy armor. And then the question is: Is there any way to make this functional?
I definitely agree, an Operative running around in Hellknight plate armor all the time is a little hard to imagine, and I don't think he'd spend most of his time in it.

Let me introduce you to my hellknight operative. Those skulls are grim trophies are referenced earlier in the thread.
Are you planning on going melee? If so, I would consider Powered Armor, yes you'll lose evasion and fast movement but you'll gain a lot of melee striking power, especially with chain.
There's some pretty good synergies you can get with hampering strike and reach not allowing guarded steps, I've been trying to figure out if there's anything in Armory to make this even better.
