How much will it cost?

Prerelease Discussion

If I would like to buy every Pathfinder 2.0 book released (ofc once they are released) how much would that cost me every month (approximately)?

I don`t want to buy the miniatures, flipmats and similar accessories, just the books (Core Books, Player Companion, Adventure Path, Campaign Setting, Modules).

I am looking for an estimated "guess", I would like to know how much money I should put on the side (my gaming budget is limited).

Oh, not much, not much... just your soul!

Well, I would like to keep that, but what about money?

I am guessing 150$ a month? And 100& if I buy the pdfs?

You can get a good high-end estimate by looking at the PF1 books published in 2016 or 2015. (I'm skipping 2017 because there was intense focus on launching Starfinder).

Total up each of those categories and see what your costs would have been.

Since that was before they were producing Starfinder material, it's likely to be a bit more material than PF2, especially in the first year.

Don't they do subscriptions for this kind of stuff?

Subscriptions don't tell you ahead of time how much it will cost. They just automatically ship and bill your credit card when it ships.

It's not like you pay $X per year for a subscription

But, IIRC, if you subscribe, you get the PDFs for free.

Here's a link to the subscription page. There's also a page of FAQs that you can access

Also being an Adventure Path subscriber gives you a discount on all the other Pathfinder books.

Life hack: work for Paizo, and they’ll give you all the new books as they come out!

My guess is that the release schedule will be fairly similar to 1e. Which likely an $23 campaign setting book every two months, alternating with a $15 Player Companion. Add to that a monthly Adventure Path at $25, and Core Books (which afaik, I don't believe there's a set schedule for, but for that I'd expect it to be not dissimilar to the 2-3 per year $50/$45 hardcovers), and Modules, It's hard to say, since they haven't put out a Module in a while, to my knowledge, but I can't see them not releasing any for 2e, but since it's not their priority, I'd say maybe 2 per year, at $25.

PDFs are about 30% less, with core books at $10.

Thank you!!! :D

23x0.5 + 15*0.5 + 25 + 50*0.25 + 25*0.16 ≈ 60.65$ ???
And PDfs ≈ 45$

As mentioned above, if you subscribe to the book lines, you get 15% off cover price of everything and the PDFs for free. If you really want to own everything, it's the easiest way to do so.

So your cost would be

.85(23*0.5)+ .85(15*0.5)+ 25 + .85(25*0.16) = ~$45

And the PDFs would be free.

I live in Germany, does that make a difference when it comes to subscriptions?

The monthly shipping cost will vary with where things are being shipped to, but that 15% discount should still apply.

I'm from Germany as well.

Shipping for the hardcovers will be expensive. As all the monthly stuff gets shipped together, the shipping fee will often be considerable. Expect that some of the larger shipments will be held up by customs for a while and will arrive late (and possibly customs will want to charge you extra for them as well... it has happened to me one time when I tried buying a large shipment from Paizo). If you stick to the slim soft-covers and buy hardcovers from Amazon.de you can bypass that. Of course you'll have to buy the PDF's apart then, but those are always only 10$ (except for some campaign setting books like Inner Sea Gods, where they want an insane 27,99$ for the PDF alone).

My recommendation if you want to buy the entire line: Get the suscription for adventure paths and their companion/campaign setting line, don't get it for the RPG line. For the RPG line buy the hardcovers from Amazon.de and the PDF's directly here from the store, where you'll still get your discount for the PDF's. The shipping for the hardcovers is just too expensive to Germany, but doable for their slim softcovers and the adventure paths.

I myself am only suscribed to the adventure path line, but quite happy with how the total cost comes together there.

As a fellow European, just to the north of you, in Denmark, I concur with magnuskn's breakdown. When I had my subscriptions I'd get the slimmer books (Adventure Paths, modules, Player's resources etc.) directly from Paizo. The slim carton envelopes mostly go through customs without any hiccup. Larger books (except for a few exceptions) I'd source "locally" in European online bookstores (you have the option of even cheaper shipping from Amazon.de) - the added cost of customs fees made it too expensive to get from outside the EU (even surpassing local Danish prices).

The free PDFs are a great bonus when you're on the go and even having to buy PDFs of the rulebooks separately comes out cheaper in the end.

Thank you for your replies!
I think I will stick to https://www.fantasywelt.de/

It might take longer, but the price should be the same, with almost no shipping.
