Alchemist archetypes and bombs

Rules Questions

OK, so, simple question. There are several archetypes that eliminate the Bombs class feature from alchemist. There's also a few that don't actually SAY they modify how bombs work, but do stuff like give you a bomb-related discovery that you would SEEM to be unable to use. Is this correct? Or would to just not get "standard" bombs? Like, the Dragonblood Chymist "gives" you the Breath Weapon Bomb, but you have to ALWAYS use it.

Without the "standard" bombs you don't have any bombs or bomb-related abilities, as they all modify the basic bombs in one way or another.
It would be likely that archetypes granting bomb-discoveries cannot be combined with ones that take away bombs altogether, but this depends on the exact wording used.

The ability to modify a bomb you don't get would remain. But you still don't get bombs. If you manage to gain the feature somehow, they would modify that.

That's what I thought, thanks guys.

Dark Archive

yeh, an example of this would be a non-bomb Vivisectionist (they get sneak attack) later dipping into a bomb granting archetype like Bomber Rogue... Which seems kind of silly to do, but hey, it's your call. Then you can apply Vivi discovery to your Rogue Bombs as you go up in sneak attack dice. But your bomb damage would remain lower (but could have special effects applied).
