A raven-haired woman walk seems to have been drawn the circus. She is wearing a rather complicated evening dress and holding a martini glass

I think, that I could maybe illuminate everyone.. she takes out a small leather bound notebook ..the "event" happened about two weeks ago and the Society found it "wise" to send a group of experienced agents, including the esteemed Thunderlips, myself and a couple other agents I don't wish to drag into this.

Carry starts reading from her journal, but after a couple of words her face becomes unusually red, and she keeps flipping to the next page.

Is it happens, we did defeat a creature associated with air, some truly monstrous things allegedly happened to another person in our group, but I can't really speak about the details since I was busy calibrating complicated machinery. What I can say, is that little to no blame can be placed on the esteemed Thunderlips, who - along with his mighty "rooster" - was dedicated to his study of ancient "Roadrunner" and coyote hunting simulations.

She looks around for this "Miss Hilary" who from the according to her research must be a relatively sensible but insanely high-spirited gnome.

So we freed the region from a creature that consisted of significant amounts of air, and while I do not regret this course of action (pummeling it until it dissipated) I have a solution that might reconcile this imbalance.

As we have all heard in the recent mandatory orientation seminars about those fascination fellows from the Concordance, balance is somewhat required. So I propose a missing, staffed with the finest "conflict resolution experts" the society can spare.
While that means that I might miss a number of events I volunteer myself to go and pummel as many mighty "earthy" creatures until the balance is restored. .. .. you know for Hilary

While some of her colleagues recall their trips to the plane of water with a certain level of dread, Carry ended up kinda liking the change to pummel or pin creatures of ridiculous size. This might result in her starting fights with mountains ^^

I shall not allow others with questionable alignment auras possess me. My General of Vengeance, I let this only happen because I had to give my sword away, and I cannot fight such evil with bare hands. Forgive me for I felt I needed these claws and this power. Not profane strength but thine is the only thing I need.
A glance on the other holy symbol on her chest, an uncomfortable prickling on her back reminded her how other, evil deities saved her, when she was in mortal danger. The old female dwarf sighed, unsure following Ragathiel beeing the right path, when his father did more for her than he ever did. But for one moment, there was a smile in her scarred face. Pride about slaying this creature without a weapon.

Yes, it’s true! I have been such a sad, sad gnome!

And for those of you who are STILL confused, I made a comment in a private conversation about how I missed coming to this forum, and seeing all sorts of passion about PFS.

Me wrote:
I am actually missing the prior rowdiness of the PFS forums, and learning all kinds of new things about what was going on in PFS there. We need to generate some non-Playtest related excitement there. Or even Playtest-related excitement. I would take that, too. There is still so much good play and exciting stuff happening this season, and we’re not hearing about any of it.

I even noted how the lack of current stories made me a sad sad gnome. Which is apparently why THUNDERLIPS! is trying to cheer me up.

★ --- ★ --- ★ --- ★

So, if you don’t want me to be a sad, sad gnome, tell me happy stories about what is happening with your PFS groups now!

Ultimate Wilderness was Sanctioned!

At Dreamers, my friend Rosc brought “Malsouza”, an oozemorph, to Master of the Fallen Fortress. Malsouza arrived at the Venture Briefing in a bucket!

My other friend, Worg, finally got a reindeer mount for Father Nicholas, his cheery gnome paladin who makes toys for all the good little boys and girls.

The Concordance is Live!

I got to play “Down the Verdant Path” on Wednesday, and it rocked. I started one of my GM babies, and turned him into “Flip the Lucky” an otherwise easy-going grippli inquisitor who gets outraged by cheats and those who welch on bets.

Cup, my eighth level bard, leapt straight from Dark Archive into the arms of the Concordance, and is super excited by the chance to do good work for the Concordance in 8-99 B in Play-by-Post.

Whisking atop a flying carpet, the sleeping catfolk bumps her head against the wall. "Paws," she calls out to the flying carpet in Catfolk, curling back into a ball and dozing off. Her bed slowly drifts to the ground and deactivates, a tiny new concordance of the elements lantern tied to the end of her tail, sparkling in the light of the fireplace.

Glorp! Gloop! Everyone is Oozes!
There are already three Oozemorphs locally, and we might be recruiting more after this first session. We are even working on a pantheon of ooze-related deities called the GooClaw.

Season 9 is Amazing! PFS2 Looks Amazing!
I love every scenario thus so far and it's revived great interest in our community. We are all very excited for Pathfinder Society 2 and submitting our pre-order forms as soon as we can!

Gnomecon was a Blast
Our local convention was an absolute blast and using the 5 hour slot for Salvation of the Sages was a huge hit.

So much is awesome right now! OutPost is going swimmingly, and I was a little worried about GMing two tables on top of my normal AP, but I think I've stayed on top of everything pretty well! It's been really interesting to see how the scenario plays differently in play-by-post than in face-to-face play.

Dennis just earned his fourth star, and I'm on track to earn my third next month, with a table full of awesome people for Beyond the Halflight Path.

I'm going to a Con next month that I've never been to before: Bookwyrm. This is really neat: the Fresno County Public Library puts on a free gaming convention.

This weekend, we'll be heading to ConQuest in Sacramento. I'm also starting to get super-excited about PaizoCon!

My Concordance sylph psychic is quite excited to have her faction be made official. (I made the character after GMing all of Tyranny of Winds twice.) She is currently playing Down the Verdant Path in play-by-post.

In my 33th play by post game as a GM I killed my first player character. Death was caused by unfortunate dice rolls. What made it even worse was that it was Redelia's character. What made it a good experience is that we checked what happened, agreed that it was RNG that was at fault and moved on.

In my offline community we had a blast with 9-11, The Jarlsblood Witch Saga. On her way back to Absalom Isabella Aldori met with a handsome Ulfen man in Kalsgard. They immediately recognized each other from a battle years ago where she almost killed him in #0-04 Frozen Fingers of Midnight. Circumstances were a lot different now and one thing led to another... They are now engaged.

You are so right that OutPost is going swimmingly. I’ve been really enjoying hearing people’s stories about the convention and playing at your table, Kate. At first, I was worried when the new about the Playtest and 2E hit right after our convention started. Would it disrupt things? How would our convention goers react? Oddly the timing has turned out to be great. We’ve all been playing throughout the announcement period, being constantly reminded of how great our community is, and how much fun we’re still having playing together.

I’ve been having a blast playing at Kate’s author-run table of Sanctuary of Drowned Delight. Kate, congratulations on Dennis’s new star, and your upcoming second! That’s great news!

As for my own OutPost experiences as a GM, I have been having fun providing singing monsters and musical interludes for my tables — as evidenced by this rather boisterous singing gibbering mouther.

I am seriously jealous of Fresno Library’s gaming convention! I am wondering if there’s a way to run something like that in Hennepin County? Wouldn’t it be fun to do a family friendly gaming day with tons of quests and silliness?

Well, our game store is being bought out by a couple who want to renovate and expand! We are moving everything out of our lodge area this weekend to make room for the renovators.

In the last couple of months we have had an influx of several first time PFS players and they are so far very involved and at almost every session!
We also have had two new GMs step up recently and one got his first star last weekend!

The lodge may have to start running three tables on Fridays and two on Saturday if the growth continues. Several of us will be attending area CONS to play, GM and promote our great hobby! Lots of positive buzz in our area for PFS2.

Exciting times here in Central Illinois!

No specific stories to share at the moment but I'll echo the sentiments that OutPost has been going really well so far! My two GM tables (Solstice Scar B & Assault on the Kingdom of the Impossible) seem to be having a good time and are trucking right along. I'd originally not signed up to play anything for OutPost but did end up filling a recent player vacancy in an Echoes of the Overwatched game and have been having fun playing my undine shaman (previously only played at live games) through PbP for the first time :)

And once one of the two GM games is reported I should have my first GM star so that's pretty cool too I guess :3

Down the Unusual Swing and a Miss Path

Season 9 has been going great but Down the Verdant Path was probably the worst table I have run in quite some time, but it was mainly for logistical reasons (we had 7 players, 4 level 1, 3 level 3 that they were bound and determined to play) so the adventure was done really fast, the players commented that they felt like they didn't really get a chance to do anything cool in combat with their characters and I feel like I failed to really get the story across to everyone.

Down the Verdant Path spoilers:

They somehow came to the conclusion they were going in there to go beat up Ng and considering I really went whole hog selling what was happening with Azure I really have no idea why that happened. I think probably because lore knowledge regarding the Eldest is pretty low and the term Fairy God doesn't exactly intimidate anyone.

Everyone at least enjoyed the very end of the scenario.

The whole thing is kinda bumming me out.

Outpost!

Outpost has been going really well, the tables were all highly motivated and interesting and aside from one pretty rocky (for reasons out of the GMs hands) table all were among my favorite PbP games.

The Unusually Absent Ultimate Wilderness

It's funny how these things work, but it getting sanctioned right around the same time that 2e was announced really felt like it killed the local excitement for the content in that book. I feel like in the end I may be the only one from my group who uses any content from it.

Instead, most players are taking one last go of things with character classes they love that are going to be absent from 2nd edition which has been pretty good - people playing their absolute favorite stuff tends to get the best roleplay out of them.

2E is a year and a half down the road, so there's plenty of time for people to get into UW. Btw, the problem is not JUST in regards to UW, as I don't see boatloads of people using Adventurer's Guide, Villains Codex and other pretty excellent things out there. About a year's time need to pass before we see heavy use at most F2F tables (i.e. except for early adopters, I'm just starting to see hybrid and occult classes being used at my FLGS PFS games... with a large majority still using sorcerers, oracles, paladins, etc.)

UW has the added disadvantage of having the Shifter still being worked on (correct me if I'm wrong but AFAIK the PDF has not been fixed right?)

Second Seekers (Roheas) 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ***** Regional Venture-Coordinator, Appalachia

I grant you that PDK, but I saw Occult classes pretty directly after the release of that book.

Granted though, I haven't even seen many Vigilantes F2F nor very much at all from Adventurer's Guide aside from archetypes.

Most of my players are like blissfully unaware that VC even had player options until I explained a feat I had was from it, so you're probably more right than I think.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Honestly, I was already complaining that Pathfinder had reached the point of rules bloat, before they announced 2e. I haven't had a chance to try all the classes from the Advanced Class Guide and Occult Adventures yet, and I probably won't ever bother buying Ultimate Intrigue or Ultimate Wilderness.

And believe it or not, I actually turned down a free copy of the Adventurer's Guide just yesterday. The only thing I've heard about that book is that it ruined the Lore Warden, which isn't exactly a selling point.

On the other hand, I hate having to learn new versions after I'm comfortable with a current version. And there really are things that I still want to try out from the ACG, Occult, and other older books. So that'll be my focus for the next year and a half, at least. Which probably means I'll skip the playtest.

3/5

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@Fromper: You're kidding right? 'the only thing it did is ruin lore warden?' That has to be a bait statement? lol

This book has the complete rules on Hellknights, Red Mantis Assassins, Eagle Knights and so many others... so much stuff that I could play another 5 years of 1E and not go through all the options. My wish is to somehow see the 1E PFS RPG Guild evolve to include adventures for evil PCs so that I can try some of the less goody-goody options like the Gray Maidens, but even if PFS doesn't go there I could find stuff to keep me busy a long, long time.
