About Celia the Sylph

Celia is a small, waif-like sylph with blue-ish white hair and big, blue eyes. Her skin is pale, with light blue markings that sometimes seem to move, and there always seems to be a gentle breeze whereever she goes, even indoors.

She grew up in the Zho Mountains of Qadira, part of a hidden society of genies and genie-kin who live in the mountains to avoid enslavement at the hands of the country's human population. Growing up in this sky high, rocky terrain, Celia became quite adept from a young age at hiding from wild animals and parties of human slavers. It was sometimes a brutal lifestyle, as humans would occasionally capture or kill people she knew during their forays into the mountains. Despite this, she always loved living there, so high in the open sky, never fearing the heights near the edges of cliffs, and yearning to take flight with the birds above like her djinn ancestors.

While the genies of the mountains try to completely avoid the human population, members of the other genie-kin races aren't as valued as slaves. Some, including Celia's sylph family, would frequently leave the mountains to trade with the human cities and villages for goods that their mountain society would need. Though she was always shy with strangers, especially non-genie folk, Celia's parents used these trips to teach her that not all humans are bad, and to appreciate people for their differences.

Celia's appreciation for the skies above led her to embrace the divine magic of nature as a Sky Druid, and as a worshiper of Gozreh, god of sky and storms. Not having grown up near any ships or bodies of water, Celia doesn't pay much attention to Gozreh's other role as goddess of the seas.

When Celia was a young lady of 73 years old, tragedy struck. During one of her family's trips to trade with the humans, they ran afoul of a band of slavers, who were in the mountains trying to find hidden djinnis to capture. Celia evaded the humans, but her parents were killed.

When Celia reported what happened to the rest of her people, there was a call to arms to avenge their deaths and drive the humans from their mountains. Everyone expected Celia to join the hunting party, but the young druid had seen enough bloodshed in her life, and didn't want to be a party to more. She departed the mountains one last time, determined to leave Qadira and the Kelesh Empire forever.

She headed towards the coast, hoping to board a ship leaving Qadira, and not really caring where it went. She traded her services as a druidic priestess of Gozreh, as a healer and praying for calm seas, to secure passage aboard a merchant vessel headed for Absalom. When she got there, she was overwhelmed by the size of the bustling city, and wasn't really anxious to stay.

She had heard stories of the Pathfinder Society, and its agents who traveled the world, so she went to their headquarters to enlist. The Society saw potential in her druidic magic and wise soul, so they took her in as a recruit. While she knows that Pathfinders travel the world, seeking to unlock ancient secrets and treasures, she hopes that she can avoid any sort of violence while traveling with them. But she does take precautions, just in case.
