I just hope the villan is some big player where fighting the rune lords before this so for the last first edition pathfinder game it has to be someone big,

Could be digging the Whispering Tyrant out of his lair ... but that does not strike one as being worth the time and page-count of a 6-chapter start-at-1st-level AP.

Who would be good candidates though?

Something with Geb and Nex?

Or how about becoming a Linnorm King?

My favourite suggestion so far, though, is something to do with the count-down clocks (and the Dominion of the Black).

My understanding is that the countdown clocks are the PF2e playtest campaign, set in 4718 ... right on time. I think that will 'unlock' the presence of the Dominion of the Black in future AP campaigns.

Could be a Rovagug thing, he's more our less the big bad of the setting so that would be a insane way to end it, almost certainly wont happen tho

Has anyone put forth the possibility of the "Nocticula's Redmption/Ascension" plotline? That's been teased for a while, and would certainly be one hell of a bang to end off 1st Edition with.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I hope it's not the whispering tyrant he sort of already had a chance to shine in carion crown, it was more our less about him

Only peripherally.

More on-topic: Perhaps the conclusion of matters regarding the Doomsday Clocks as part of transitioning to PF2 begins a new Age on Golarion. Which Age remains to be seen ...

That would make the Age of Lost Omens really rather short - and set a precedent for an even shorter one if there is any consideration of making PF3.0 before 2128 - and also pull away from centring the death of Aroden/lack of prophecy element, which, while I also am not particularly invested in it as a concept, has been sufficiently integrated into Golarion to be kind of central to Pathfinder's identity at this point.

I had always hoped that we would get a full AP about the Harbingers of Fate trying to correct for the death of Aroden by forcing events prophesied for the Age of Glory to happen anyway, because I would love to see what some of those events were meant to be, but as it is canon that they had nothing later than 4714 AR to hand that seems a forlorn hope now.

The last PF1.0 AP I would most like to see would involve the Pit of Gormuz, ancient Ninshabur (I'm a sucker for quasi-Babylonian/Akkadian/Sumerian and I always wanted to see the Bestiary 3 Humbaba get some love) and/or the waking of the Tarrasgue, but most of what I can imagine for that is the last chapter of an AP with no idea how to do the other five chapters.

If I had to bet, I think the most likely last PF1.0 AP would be either Nex and Geb or "Kings of Absalom", though that might also be a good first AP for PF2.0.

Good stuff. It wouldn't make much sense to usher in a new Age on Golarion at this juncture.

Now, having said all of that, IIRC there may well be a 3rd Great Old Ones AP involving the awakening of Great Cthulhu on Earth 28 Feb/1st March 1925 = [whatever dates] 4719 A.R. on Golarion (with Carrion Crown being the first and Strange Aeons being the second).

If material from Sandy Petersen's Cthlulhu Mythos (PFRPG edition) is incorporated, so much the better.

Just occurred to me that if the developers wanted to be REALLY contrary, instead of giving us an end-of-the-world/age AP, they might come out with something that you totally wouldn't expect for a change in the the way the world works. Like going up against Razmir and unraveling his empire of lies.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Going againts Razmir would be awesome

"Empire of Lies" or "Kingdom of Lies" has a nice ring to it. :)

Perhaps, in order to make regions beyond the Inner Sea more accessible, there'll be an Arcadian AP. Though I'm mainly suggesting this just so we can finally find out just how snooty the syrinx are.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Maybe one involveing aliens like so sort of starfinder prequel since we know when the gap happened there where humans and elves on onther planets

There already are elves and humans on other planets (and have been for a long time). For example re elves, Sovaryian is on Castrovel. Also, Azlanti humans colonised outside of Golarion's solar system prior to Earthfall, not to mention non-Azlanti humans on Akitron and the existence of Androffan humans.

Maybe the Daemonic Harbingers come calling, unleashing famine, pestilence, war and death somewhere already turbulent ...

^So many choices for this . . . although Galt, the Hold of Belkzen, and the former Worldwound region have got to take the cake, at least in the greater Inner Sea region.

UnArcaneElection wrote:

I would lean towards Galt largely because Galt has not been visited in an AP. Perhaps some isolated incidents in the modules, the Gawds only know as regards PFS.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Ah galt, that would make my day

tru enouhg is just got the idea from the core starfinder book that golrian had achieved technology break throuh and had been abel to leave the planet, i could be wrong tho, since because of the gap no one knows what golrian was like before it disappeared

If they would just do a proper Absalom based AP that hints at or touches on the Test of the Starstone before it's done, I can forget the whole 2 edition thing and be happy with what I already have.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Yea a Absalom one about the starstone test would be great

No, that's robots with plasma guns. Totally different. Doesn't even come close. Lazors is what we need.

I’m fairly certain I got to play some robotz with lasorz In Iron Gods ... :D

I want sharks with lazors

Iron Piratez?

Skulls and Sharks? :)

Learn to call sharks from the Plane of Air - y'know, the ones that swim through both air and water. When they get whacked, animate 'em and graft lazors onto 'em. Voila!

Laser Zombie Air Sharks.

I still say it's gotta be ABSALOM

Paizo can do a Sandbox sorta like Kingmaker is a Sandbox, with lots of Urban adventure possibility plus all the dungeons & ruins & mega-dungeons outside of Absalom. It could have politics and murder mystery; it could have dungeon crawling; it could have a bit of wilderness in the mountains or underwater adventure off the island or in the harbor; it could have Starstone stuff and Pathfinder Society stuff.

An Absalom Sandbox is PERFECT!

And it's the city at the center of the world! How can you have a Greyhawk setting without the Free City of Greyhawk?! How could you have a Faerun and not do Waterdeep?! Absalom needs an AP. It's ludicrous that we've had Golarion for ten years and not had an Absalom AP.

And finishing the PF line with Starstone Cathedral adventuring just makes the most sense.

Other locations are neat and can get more love later, but it's time for Paizo to finally address the signature location of their campaign setting, the focal point of the world, Absalom.

Rovagug vs. Absalom vs. Spire of Nex. I can get behind this.

Maybe there’d also be room in the schedule for an Absalom hardcover in the year with the playtest.

I was being a bit loose in application of what is our Europe -- Russia does extend into Europe (being on both sides of the Ural Mountains), so by going to Siberia, you do go to a country that is partly European (more than 75% of the population lives in Europe, although less of than 25% of its area is in Europe).

Andoran would also be good to see. Although if Andoran was going to appear close to the Pathfinder 1st Edition/2nd Edition changeover, I have a suspicion that it would appear in the first 2nd Edition AP rather than as the last 1st Edition AP.

That makes perfect sense for it to be an early (1st or second) AP of the new edition, IMO.

If I had to sketch and develop a last AP for PF1, with PF2 already announced and closing, I'd make it a rather experimental one, trying to get players' feedback whether to integrate certain things into PF2 books or not. Not for the CRB (this ship has sailed, with goblins on board), but for the second wave of books (think PF1's Ultimate Magic, Ultimate Combat etc.).

To test multiple experimental elements, the setting would rather be something flexible (Geb + Nex + Mana wastes) instead of a single, quite thematically focused country (such as Nidal).

^Well, now that you mention Nidal, this hasn't gotten much AP attention either. Although Nidal, Land of Shadows is coming out pretty soon . . . .

I like the Absalom idea.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I can defently get behind a Nidal ap, Absalom or galt would all be great

Releasing companions that match an AP is hardly unknown. Perhaps a planar adventure? Could be made to fit with the idea of Aroden and somehow making Goblins not universally chaotic evil: Last book has the PCs evading the Goblin hero-gods (20th level pcs are strong enough to not be instant killed by a demi-god, we have published CR26 one, but not enough to actually fight back) while trying to free Aroden, when then kills the pursuers when freed. "Fought with 4 demigods and didn't die" and "Freed a god from a century of imprisonment" is a pretty good conclusion to any system.

ratcatbo wrote:

I'd really prefer not, I think the amounts we've got on it in different APs from different directions is just fine, and... Golarion becomes a much less plausible campaign world for me if every major antagonist is up for being knocked over in an AP eventually, and of the major evil forces we've had talked about much so far, Nidal feels the most absolute and therefore the one I'd least like to see overthrown. (And the alternative of a Nidal AP that was meant to feel like being stuck in a Kafka novel with no possible endings other than crushing triumph of evil... well, I'd run it like a shot, but I suspect I am in a minority here.)

This has me wondering whether the scale of influence APs have on Golarion generally is likely to increase with APs default going to 20, and mildly concerned that another ten years of APs with the scale of impact on Golarion of Wrath of the Righteous could leave the setting hard to recognise. This would be another place where I suspect the ideal solution for me would be unlikely to get wide traction; in this case it's "make the last two chapters of every AP planar like Savage Tide".

Plenty of APs do not have far-reaching, or even terribly large local reaching, repercussions. Not the majority, but a significant minority. A smallish fraction of them have no noticeable effects on the world-at-large whatsoever despite the characters attaining 17th+ levels/17k+ PF2e XP every time.

I suspect this will continue, especially as it seems likely that more outre parts of the world will be explored. Other continents, other worlds, out-of-the-way islands run by ethically-challenged "gold dragons", Garund's southerly reaches ... plenty of campaign fodder without often having to affect the Inner Sea region very much.

Well, beyond the vast consumption of hookers-n-blow ...

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I just like nidal and would enjoy a ap that took place there, i compleatly understand what you mean tho

Just found this tidbit (see 2nd post) that hints that Razmir may be featured in Pathfinder 2nd Edition, so presumably he won't be in the last 1st Edition AP.

^Also see the 7th and 11th posts in that thread.

Pathfinder Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

Huh so defently no Razmir in the last ap, and we can probably look forward to a galt ap in 2nd hopfuly so im kind of stumped on what the last 1st aps going to be
