Idea / Interest Check: All-Vigilante Hell’s Rebels

Recruitment

I feel like someone’s probably thought of this before, but couldn’t find it searching the subforum. So. Thoughts? Given the particulars of the campaign I feel like this could be amazing. If I had the experience (and the books) I’d look to run it myself, but I don’t. If there’s sufficient interest, would anyone think about GMing such a campaign?

If I wasn't already playing in a HR I'd be all over that, ready to fight any fool who thought they'd get the part of the Milanite Zealot before me. However, I cannot save your Kintargo, as I'm already busy saving my Kintargo. Good luck!

Shadow Lodge

given the party niche needs I figure that any all one class game should be a gestalt game

Most of the time I'd agree, but with Vigilante archetypes that can get 6 levels of arcane or divine casting or (to an extent) emulate fighters, rogues, cavaliers, alchemists, druids etc, I think it's one of the few classes that could make it work. And you get to be the Power Rangers/Justice League/X-Men/other group of superheroes with (semi-)secret identities.

You had me at vigilantes. Someone started a similar game for Crimson Throne here a while back that died out quickly, but it was fun while it lasted. I'd be down to make a vigilante.

Scarab Sages

Id totally be up for playing that.

Aroden's Angels...?

Hi Woran! Why no, I'm totally not going to goof off at work and make a vigilante version of Oskar...

Same

Interesting!

That sounds awesome! I haven't played a vigilante since it first came out, so I guess I need to relearn the class and all the new archetypes again...

Sovereign Court

Are you looking to run it for PFS credit?

Sounds pretty good to me. There's so much variation in vigilantes that it's probably one of the better classes to run a single-class game with.

Shadow Lodge

I wouldn't mind trying out an Agathiel vigilante, thought I wish it could actually change shape at level one so the character isn't some weird guy in a fake pony suit until lv4 :/

It's perfect for the AP. Hell's Rebels is all about being average people rising up against an oppressive government. When rising up, you need to hide from said government, and a good GM will target the PC's friends and family if he gets the chance. Vigilantes have an actual mechanic for this.

That...and an all vigilante group can fill *all* roles. From fighter, to healer, to ninja, to wizard...it won't be as dedicated as the actual class, but they can fill it. And that would make for a pretty darn cool party.

If we do move forward, I'm going to likely make a magical child who is an orphan whose parents were imprisoned as political dissidents, for having the temerity to sell cookies from their bakery that slightly mocked the house of Thrune (they were of Abigail I and a demon ballroom dancing with each other). For this terrible sin, their business was burned down, they were imprisoned, and their child was placed in an orphanage, where that child languished until a magical critter came to it and offered it the power to free it's parents.

I enjoy playing, but don’t have the experience to GM. If we find a GM, that’d be their call.

I was really happy to come across this thread. Just last week I was thinking about an all vigilante War for the Crown.

I have another pet project in mind to run, but this idea is up there for me. Who knows, hopefully someone gets around to it before I do.

I would love to play as a vigilante in this campaign as well :D

The problem is the Stalker doesn’t make a good Rogue for Hell’s Rebels. They are missing Trapfinding and therefore lack a way to deal with magical traps.

Now it is true you stated Ninja (who also lacks it), but still the lack of Trapfinding is worth noting,

This would be incredible.

Scarab Sages

We need to attrackt a GM

No, no Woran. The Brute is just such an awful, awful AT to this class, and yet I don't think I could stop myself...! :)

Shadow Lodge

I see what you did there.

I'm too distracted (posting while working) to be clever on purpose. What'd I do (assuming @Dragonborn3 meant me)?

Shadow Lodge

Man, this sounds like it would be super cool. I hope someone takes this up, an all Vigilante party sounds amazing.

Don't walk away on my account. As I said in my first post in the thread, I'm already in an HR game, and I wouldn't want to mess myself up like that. If some GM gives this idea legs, go for it, man.

This is a pretty great idea. I'd be interested if someone GMs it.

I've decided to take this up and save my other idea as an option for my RL Starfinder group.

Because I'm excited about it:
A conversion of Strange Aeons into a homebrew Starfinder setting that is a homage to Dark Sun. Only 6 solar systems remain within 1000 lightyears, built by the godlike Mystic Lords. All magic consumes matter. Everything is bathed in radiation.

I'll make a recruitment thread in a few hours and link to it from here. Only submissions in the actual recruitment thread will be honnored.

I'm open to running it PFS in campaign mode if desired. All vigilante, no VMC or Gestalt. 20 pt buy. Background skills. Core races and Tiefling.

Will be looking for 5 players.

Here it is!
