Is the Face Card product line dead?

Does anyone know what Paizo's plans for the Face Card line are? Nothing has been released for a while, and especially the more roleplay-with-a-ton-of-important-npcs-heavy APs we've seen recently could really benefit from face cards. Has it been put to the grave?

We need an area/thread for "product Paizo makes but have quietly stopped existing". <Grin>

I believe sales of the PF Cards line in general were not strong enough to justify production at the moment.

As I recall, the line hasn't been cancelled so much as put on hiatus until they have some good ideas for new decks and room on the schedule to produce them.

My impression from posts on the forums was that some people really liked the face cards, some people really liked the item cards, some people really liked the 'rules subsystem' cards and so on. However, there wasn't necessarily huge overlap between all those customers, so my guess is that the subscriber numbers were pretty low (and that people bought them on an ad hoc basis).

I was most disappointed that the campaign cards tied to a specific module fell flat - especially the quest cards they included. Apart from the harrow decks, those were the ones I found most useful.

The line is not "shelved," per se, in that we will continue to release products for it when they make sense.

The long and short of it is that Item Card and Face Cards sales have not justified producing more of them, so we're not.

Stuff like the condition cards and the Critical Hit cards sell very well.

So if we come up with an idea more like the latter, we'll do it.

But we don't want to just release cards to release cards when they aren't selling very well.

The cards line isn't exactly cancelled—it's just that there are currently no products planned for the line. If Erik comes across an idea he thinks will sell well enough, we'll do it.

Thanks, CrystalSeas - that's pretty much what I remembered. Least I know I'm not losing my mind. :)

I really love the Face Cards. Just recently (a few months ago?) I picked up the only deck I didn't already have.

I haven't been as diligent about buying all the Item Cards, though I was buying three of every set for while so I could hand-out multiples of the same loot. While I am using Item Cards in my game right now, I find it a lot more difficult to use them than to use the Face Cards. That's probably because I want to represent every item as Item Cards though, so I'm making it difficult on myself.

Of course I love the Critical Hit and Critical Fumble cards, and occasionally use the Condition Cards as well.

I never got any of the Campaign cards. I wanted to get an Emerald Spire deck but Paizo was already sold out when I was looking to order. (I did manage to get a re-print of the Emerald Spire FlipMats, but I don't think they reprinted the cards.)

Anyway, I too would love to see the Face Cards line revived, even if it's just one deck annually with just a mixed bag of faces from among all the adventure products of the previous year. I love being able to put a face to an NPC and there really aren't enough decks to find just the right face consistently. I suppose, alternatively, I could print art from the Internet (if I were to replace my printer's color cartridge). I'd much rather be able to buy a deck intended for that specific use though.

I hope they put out a Starfinder Face Deck (hint, hint).

I only found out about these recently. Stock is non existent. Maybe they could consider selling these older sets in PDF format if they don't want more printed lines?
