Class Theme Songs

Back in the days when TSR published AD&D, our little group thought each class should have its own theme song. Now there are many more classes, but I still think classes should have songs. Further ideas?

Barbarian: "Indestructible" by Disturbed
Cleric: "My Sweet Lord" by George Harrison
Druid: "Turn Turn Turn" by Pete Seeger (performed by The Byrds)
Fighter: "Mars, the Bringer of War"by Gustav Holst (performed by Emerson, Lake & Powell)

Assassin: "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" by AC/DC

A good theme song should be distinctive and easily recognizable. It should also be fairly simple and easy to remember, the sort of thing you can play over in your head.

Personally, I don't really understand the lyrics in most songs.

Based on those two factors, I think this song is a good candidate.

I think it fits well with bard. At first, it's easily recognizable as that song that plays in the background at comedic moments in movies. But then it keeps going, building slowly and steadily, until it becomes almost anxious. You realize the bard is more than they seemed at first, someone with a deep personality and a lot going on beneath the surface. It keeps going, still using the same old patterns to grow in new ways, and you realize that beneath the veneer and the charming comedy of the bard is actually the scariest thing in the room.

Also, I feel obligated to suggest this song for cleric. Johnny Cash's singing is a bit like a spoken poem, which makes it easy for me to understand. I also think it's a quite distinctive style. I like this song in particular because it makes being religious seem like the most badass thing ever. It's not, "horay, I get to go to heaven!" It's, "no grave is strong enough to hold me down. Death itself will bow before me."

I like this one for skald. I'd die happy if I died a foolish death charging against hopeless odds as long as that song was playing.

There are some classes, like wizard, that don't really have much of a flavor component. I chose a theme song for a wizard once, and it was based on their backstory and personality. They could've been a barbarian and it would've still been fine.

For bard, I had thought of "A Wandering Minstrel I" from The Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan.

"I'm too sexy for my shirt." The obvious choice for a sorceror.

Fame. There's your bard in a nutshell.

I'm astonished we've gone three posts without someone suggesting Kung Fu Fighting for the Monk.

And of course we all know that people are holding out for a Paladin.

There's a theme in the Civ 5 sound track that I always thought would be good for a Cleric. I'll see if I can find it.

For a druid, Clint Eastwood's "I talk to the trees." What else!? ;)

For a gunslinger, the theme from "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly".

For a rogue, "Backstabbers" by the O'Jays, or "You've got to pick a pocket or two" from Oliver!

For a monk, Carl Douglas's "Kung Fu Fighting". (Damn, Bluenose beat me!)

For an earth kineticist, AC/DC's "Let there be rock".

If I were to entirely base this off of my personal experiences with playing classes, these would be the themes I'd say were quite fitting;

Barbarian, Bard, Cavalier, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Gunslinger, Magus, Monk, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Summoner, and Wizard

In terms of an evil party, this was the theme for my Way Of the Wicked group

Guys, the Skald can't be encompassed by anything short of Scottish Pirate Metal.

The lyrics really don't tie anything into the class itself, but this song always made me think of the Vigilante "on the job".

If Investigator's don't use the Inspector Gadget theme song, they're doing it wrong.

Why isn't this just all Queen songs?

Songs be ultra important in my campaign, to the point where one of our player's has made our party a theme (yet to be revealed).

I'm running a Steampunk campaign, and am literally designing my levels around various Steampunk bands. Steam Powered Giraffe for a base feel, The Cog is Dead for multiple level concepts.

The theme for the campaign that just ended was the theme from the 70s television show "S.W.A.T".

Shadow Lodge

"The Wizard": Uriah Heep (Wizard, unsurprisingly)

"Rainbow Demon": Uriah Heep (Antipaladin)

"And with the power of conviction / There is no sacrifice" is pretty spot on, but "We can't afford to be innocent" does not sound like a person who refuses to commit a single evil or even dishonourable act.

AM NOT "AM BARBARIAN," BUT AM DIFFERENT BARBARIAN, AND AM THINK BARBARIAN THEME NEED BETTER "REH-PREE-SEHN-TAY-SHUN."

SO, DIFFERENT BARBARIAN AM GIVE YOU:

AM WARNING, AM BARBARIAN "NAH-SHUN-UHL ANH-THUM" NOT FOR KIDDIES. NOT FOR CASTIES OR NOT-BARBARIANS EITHER. BARBARIAN AM GIVE WARNING, AM NOT "REE-SPAHNS-UH-BUHL" FOR NIGHTMARES.

this one might work.... for one of the martial classes... even if it doesnt still its a good tune

nice tune

I can't think of a bard without singing "Brave Sir Robin" from Monty python and the holy grail.
