Greetings all.
First, thank you for your time. Second, apologizes if this has already been discussed and I failed to find it.
I am an old rp'er, and have only recently starting playing pnp games. After a few months of trying out the different dnd versions out there, my group has decided on Pathfinder.
I am really interested in the Witch, and to a lesser extent the Magus classes. What I've decided is that if I could sweet talk the D.M. into letting me bring the Witch to a mid-BAB class so it could be more hands on, "I'm going to get you," would make the Witch perfect for what I want.
So, in order to do that, it looks like a fair trade would be (considering the other mid-BAB casters) is to take up the bard/magus/inquisitor/etc. spell progression (obviously removing 7th, 8th and 9th lvl spells) in order to get; d8 HD, mid-BAB, and the ability to wear light armor w/o spell failure. Is that a fair trade?
I'm thinking that leaving the other class abilities untouched is preferred, but I don't want to OP my character.
I appreciate any responses.
Cordially,
Belazoar

I also suggest to consider a Cabalist Hexcrafter (maybe also Bladebound) Magus and just play it as an exotic Witch. of course if you want an archetype like white-haired witch or Winter Witch it won't work.
Consider maybe a multiclass Witch/Bard, Witch/Rogue, Witch/Druid, Witch/Fighter
maybe you find what you want, and it still results in lower max spell levels

Lower max spell levels isn't a goal, it was something I was willing to give up in exchange for being less squishy.
The hex ability is something I'm really wanting to keep unchanged, and the hexcrafter only gets a few hexes.
I'm just wondering if my take on the conversion is fair.
If you are Hexcrafter you gain access to most Witch feats, like Extra Hex only a very few which have prerequisite "x level Witch" is not accessed
If you are a human Hexcrafter you can already get 2 hexes on lvl 1, getting them earlier than the usual lvl 3, with 2 Extra Hex feats
Cabalist gives you spellcasting like sorcerers and bards, and as extra yummy (or in my case, main reason to take the archetype) you get later most benefits of a Sorcerer bloodline
Decide if you want or don't want bladebound through, I usually play with Giant bloodline in mind, and plan to take levels in Titan Mauler barbarian so my magus can wield a huge maul or sword in one hand, and later throw it, a black blade in such cases doesn't work out well
