Does the Overlord Mystic's Forceful Commands ability do anything yet?

When you use a mind-affecting charm or compulsion spell or spell-like ability against a target benefiting from an active spell that protects against your attack, you automatically become aware of the presence of such defenses, and can spend 1 Resolve Point as part of casting the spell to attempt a caster level check to dispel the highest-level such spell, as if you had cast dispel magic.

I haven't seen any spells that actually protect against such attacks. Am I missing something, or does this ability let you overcome defenses that don't actually exist (yet)?

Subjective reality and probability prediction are definitely on the list of spells that it could defeat. As written it might be able to punch through a wall of force or a force sphere. Hope this helps.

I guess those are possibilities, but it feels like they were contemplating Protection from X spells that didn't get ported over.

I, for one, am very glad they didn't port those spells over.

A first level spell that effectively defangs an entire school of magic? For 10 min/lvl? It's so good it's a mandatory buff for smart parties.

On that note, I really like how Starfinder has gone about removing most mandatory buffs, freeing up spellcaster spell slots for other things. It allows for a much more cinematic style of play.
