Welcome all to the open playtest for the new legendary class, Legendary Gunslingers! Our goal here was to provide a more interesting and dynamic class to include in games, as well as one which better encapsulated the spirit of firearms in fantasy. To this end, we’ve decided to give the class a great deal more choice while making it more capable of contributing both in and out of combat. In addition, we’ve added several archetypes which are compatible with this new class rebuild, each one ready for playtesting. So please feel free to comment on the doc or in the threads on Paizo or Giant in the Playground, and looking forward to hearing from you!
The playtest will last 3-4 weeks depending on participation, and make sure to comment on the spot listed on the doc if you'd like to be listed as a playtester.
Haven't gotten a chance to try it yet, so I just have a question:
Is it still tied to Paizo's firearm mechanics, or have you reworked those?

To keep things simple for players, it continues to use Paizo's firearm mechanics, although I've made changes to help them balance a bit better, such as a 3/4 BAB and other changes.
So far the Legendary Gunslinger class itself looks great.

Alchemical Hotshot
Demolition Soldier
Faded Slinger
Pale Stranger
Sky Rider
Solemn Traveler

New art ordered for this book!
Can't wait. I haven't read thru the doc yet. Any sniper support?
So, how is the playtest going? It seems oddly quiet around here. I hope that the book/PDF is still going to be published, as I love the gunslinger class and the changes made look to me like good ones. Such as Gun Training from first level and the new deed that permits the gunslinger to reload without having to worry about nearby opponents getting AoOs and chopping you into haggis.

That's kinda on me since I was gone all last week at gencon. See, for a playtest like this, the first week or two when I'm still adding a bunch of content is the busiest time, and the threads rarely get a ton of attention due to the fact that I allow commenting on the doc, which allows people to make their points right away. The thread being relaxed is a result of that, but it also lets me make comments/changes/etc a lot quicker. I find it a more enjoyable way to playtest myself.
This isn't getting dropped at all, and once I get a little more free time after relaxing, I'd like to make sure I have all the content people would like for this before getting everything together.
As for sniper support, I'd say so, although it's more baked into the class due to how I'm doing action economy for this. You can snipe more easily due to how the class's mechanics are set up, but there's no need for a direct sniping archetype because of this (in the same way you don't need a 2 handed archetype to effectively wield a two handed gun).

And I believe I'll be ending the playtest today, so thank you to all who contributed, there's still quite a few things I need to add and include to make sure this book is ready for everyone, but I'm looking forward to seeing what you all think of the finished product!
Any rough idea how long before the finished Legendary Gunslinger will be available?

Well right now I've got one other big thing on my plate, I still need to do some of the other text that goes along with a legendary class, and some other stuff. I'd say that puts us at least a little while out, but I can't give a direct time frame at the moment.
But when it comes... it's gonna be LEGENDARY!

And the playtest is officially over. I'd like to thank everyone who was involved, you helped make this into a far better project overall, and I'll be taking your questions and concerns into consideration for the final steps of this book.
Good to have some free, limited time Legendary Gunslinger playtestin' stuff out there. ;)
