The frontman of Linkin Park was found dead today.

Information is still coming in, but cause of death was suicide, what sources are saying so far.

S$#+, this was hard to write. Just, f!&+.

I'm sorry for rambling, but I've had Linkin Park's music around me every part of my life that I can remember growing up, you could basically chart the eras of my life to their albums heh. Even if there was songs I didn't personally care for there was always one playing on the radio, so I was always hearing Chester's voice. So he was kinda always there, so thank you, Chester, for everything you've done, all your songs, you got me through some dark spots more than once.

Linkin Park wasn't the soundtrack of my youth. But it was a part of my makeup as I was growing into an adult. It helped me find the other side of the darkness. To see one of the key parts of that die...to go off into the Darkness like that. Not only saddens me, but upsets me to the core.

I just hope...some how, some way, Chester is at peace. I pray to all thing sacred, divine and good he finds the light.

Love that song. I think it's my favorite of theirs.

I am with Thomas

I think we could all use, and should be sending out, "The Light" these days. Goddess knows we sure need it.

Alas that these dark days should be ours...

Mine too Lemartes...that song inspired some really good, but dark, writings over the years.

Today is also Chris Cornell's birthday. Him and Chester were friends and Chester sang at Cornell's funeral.

I don't think I could pick a single favourite.

Heavy, My December, Leave Out All the Rest,... those are just in my head right now, there's a lot to go through.

Makes you wonder just what the price of fame really is...

I mean, Kurt, Chris, Bradley (of Sublime), Chester, Blaine, Jimmy, Janice...and that is only a tiny fraction of those who have left us too soon.

If only I was good at CGI you'd have something to see. ;)

I remember singing In the End at the top of my lungs with my suite mate in college back in the early 2000's nearly every night.

It's so unreal
Didn't look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on, but you didn't even know
Wasted it all just to watch you go
I kept everything inside
And even though I tried, it all fell apart
What it meant to me
Will eventually be a memory of a time when

I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

Wait...I'm not DEAD! Unless there's some other Blaine I don't know about...

No clearly you are quite still living...unless you have some negative energy "condition" you are not telling us about ;)

Oh! Stanley! Yeah I forgot about him. I thought his first name was Layne though...

Also no I'm not an undead abomination.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with fame at all. There are a lot of suicides by people that never had any fame. So I think the main difference is, that with a famous person everyone is shocked and oh so sad, while with the other people, mostly nobody cares.

Still dammit. While I'm a bit too old to have them influence my teenager years, I still immensely enjoyed their first three albums (and parts of their later work) and it's a damn shame that the darkness won once again.

If I were to hazard a guess, it was probably due to depression.

Of course Wormys, fame is not needed for the whole equation to happen, just seems to factor in for certain folks, but that is just MHO.

It's Layne Staley. Another troubled and talented man.

First Chris Cornell, now Chester. Bad year for the musicians I grew up on. Much sadness ensues.

The saddest, most selfish part for me as only a semi-fan, was that there was a cover that I wanted him to do that I obviously never could have afforded to have him do, that his voice would have been perfect for and would have been stylistically amazing and now it can never be.

I can only imagine him screaming the chorus of Tears for Fears' "Swords and Knives", while quietly, mournfully finishing in the My December style softer voice with the last lyrics.

"God save those born to die."

Seeing all the touching tributes to an artist who had a very real impact on my teenage years has been something incredible to come from this real tragedy.

In the end, I promise it all matters.

woops, weird, why did the other spelling come up via Google.

Correction, Layne Staley.

I really ought to have remembered the spelling...but I am an imperfect creature at best ;)

I was affected by the loss of Dimebag Darrel from Pantera, by the loss of David Bowie, and Prince as well. But the back to back loss of Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington has done more to damage my psyche and soul than any other celebrity death that has occurred this decade, maybe even my whole life.

One Step Closer off of Hybrid Theory got me listening to Linkin Park. But it was Crawling on that same album that made me a fan. It spoke to me in a way that few songs do these days, mainly because I'd been in that position more than once. So when the Reanimation LP dropped, it was no surprise to me that the remix of Crawling (Krwlng with Aaron Lewis of Stain'd) was the best song on it.

Meteora and Minutes to Midnight helped me get through the difficulty of separation from my wife. We ended up getting back together, but without those albums, I'd have never found the strength and resolve to carry on.
