I've coordinated several tables of PFS on Sunday of GenCon the last couple of years.

I'd like to do the same this year.

I'm envisioning 1-4 tables on Wed 7 pm to 11:30 pm and 1-4 tables on Sun 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

If you are interested in playing or GMing for this plan, speak up here. I'll need to sort out a location either by asking for it from GenCon (and if rejected locating it physically myself onsite and posting here where we are.)

I'd be interested in playing on Wednesday, although all my characters are in the 1-3 range.

Spread the word out in your groups and we can get a count of players, desired tiers, and GM's.

Let us not forget that Scotty's Brewhouse will host lots of PFS opportunities on Wednesday. They open early just for us and are a licensee for Pathfinder and carry a number of cool items from t-shirts to mugs and create a custom gamer menu as well. It's a lot of fun, good food, and a daily beverages. Can't go wrong with that! Keep an eye on the forum for details as the convention approaches.

To add, they typically have games all day at Scottys on Wednesday, sometimes even that morning. There are also frequently wandering souls in the Westin lobby looking for games on Sundays. Hopefully we won't have to do quests at the airport on Monday again...

The Exchange 4/5 Owner - D20 Hobbies

I'm aware of scotties but it's always full up and no space, at least the last 3 years I've wanted to play. So this is envisioned as "in addition to" Scotties.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/5

That sounds fun! I'd definitely want to keep updated on more PFS.

Sovereign Court 3/5

Definitely up for some gaming Wednesday and Sunday! I'll keep my eyes peeled for Scotty's on Wednesday soon.

Hello

This is the first time I will go to the Gen Con so I don´t know many of the event traditions.

What is going on at Scotty's Brewhouses on Wednesday??

don't tell him, don't tell him a thing

Nothing at all. It's just a little get together. Nothing special at all.

that's it, he wont suspect a thing. He doesn't need to know that there's lots of good food from a specially created Pathfinder menu. No need to tell them about two slots of about ten tables each of some of your favorite PFS senarios. Nope, don't tell them.

Some people who arrive early, mainly due to travel schedules, just go there to hang out. Nothing special is happening. You don't need to come.

Good, you didn't mention the promos they have had in the past. Special dice giveaways. T-shirts and other items for sale. Good job, you didn't tell them a thing. The fewer the better.

See you on Thursday at GenCon.

When will Scottys schedule be announced?

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

Scotty's schedule isn't so much announced as they provide the venue and people just request to play something and request a GM or offer to run something and look for players. It's a pretty informal set up. The local Indianapolis crew headed up by Mark Stratton and Richard Webb organize the logistics but do not set a list of events. This works out fairly well so players can get what they want. You can begin submitting request just about anytime you want, though the usually don't announce the "final" schedule until much closer to Gen Con.

Horizon Hunters 4/5 5/5 ***

As for Scotty's: I am heading over there on my lunch hour on Tuesday (5/30) to follow up with them. Stay tuned.

Silver Crusade 2/5

I will likely be in town early enough on Wed to play at least a mid-day game. If Scotty's goes and I get into something there, I'll have to arrive Tuesday night! If I cannot get into Scotty's, I'd be interested in an evening game somewhere else.

Game on!

The Exchange 4/5 Owner - D20 Hobbies

Scotties always goes off, and I've been either unable to play anything offered or unable to get a slot at one for 3-4 years there. So mark, lets work together for this being a sort of overflow for Scotties and not a replacement?

Dark Archive 4/5 *

I'm up to play on Wednesday evening, any level range. I think the last couple of years, Scotty's has not been able to offer tables in the evening on Wednesdays anyway.

I don't know where anyone at all has suggested it would be a replacement for Scotty's. I certainly didn't say that, and neither did any of the VOs from this area.

It's always possible that Scotty's could decide not to host us, or to give us so few tables that we'd look elsewhere. But, for now, we're still good on time to make plans with them, so people just need to exercise a bit of patience.

As soon as we know what the framework will be (times, #s of tables, etc.) I can post that. Richard Webb, Indianapolis VL, will schedule games and coordinate the event, just as he did last year.

But, if the schedule is like it was last year, it will be 8 a.m. To 5 p.m. So, if you're planning a supplemental game session, I'd start it well after 5 p.m. (The VC dinner is that night, I'm sure, but I haven't heard conclusively yet.)

As soon as I know more, I'll post it, but I can't until I have that info. So, if people would give us just a bit of time, because we still have roughly 10 weeks or so, that would be greatly appreciated.

Grand Lodge 4/5

I'll be down to close out GenCon with a game on Sunday night. Run or play, I can do it all.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Why just Sunday evening? One of my big complaints about Sunday is that there's nothing to do in the afternoon. I usually end up driving home in the afternoon (about 3.5 hours). But if I had a reason to stay through the afternoon, I'd be fine with driving home in the evening, instead.

Well, this is how it normally works:

1. We ask people what they want to play and we reach out to GMs to ask if they want to run, and if so, what.

2. We build the schedule around those two things, and then use our own judgement to fill in the gaps.

3. We then have people sign up to GM

4. When we have the bulk of GMs signed up, then we allow players to sign up. All of that stuff will be posted on the boards here (and I post them on our local FB page, too) so people will know.

But, I need to correct Bob on one thing - do NOT submit requests for events until we put out the call to do so. Other things have to happen first, and doing that just gets in the way.

Sunday afternoon is usually a time when folks are trying to do their take-down, their clean-up, and regroup before dinner. The convention center doesn't take down all the nifty things that get put up over the weekend, after all.*

*They DO provide lifts to help with banners, but that's about it.

Fromper wrote:

Mostly because I stay through Monday anyway and I'd feel guilty running off to game while the Sagamore crew continues to tear down.

I'd be up to catching a game on Sunday after the convention. I can help with the clean-up in the Sagamore, but I plan on staying at the hotel and checking out on Monday morning. I'm personally looking for some high tier games to help my level 10 rogue to be able to play Eyes locally.

I would also volunteer to run a round at Scotty's on Wednesday. I need more events to get me to my 4th star.

Bloomington, Indiana (1 hour drive from downtown Indy) has PFS on Monday evenings, in case anyone wants to drop by after everything is closed up post-Gen Con! :)

Grand Lodge 5/5

I just know after dinner on Sunday I saw several groups (including the group of VOs I was hanging with) forming up in the Westin lobby. Wouldn't hurt to formalize the process slightly, but might be hard with the varying timing.

This is just their normal menu with renamed items. When I have gone this created confusion as the servers were not familiar with the new names. :(

I don't think someone had, I was just trying to close out the possibility someone thought I was trying to replace instead of supplement.

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/55/55/5 ****

I should be getting into the airport by 10:30am on Wednesday. Figure I will be to the hotel by noon at the latest.

Was going to see if I could offer to help for a while, then get in an adventure or two. Since I have never had the chance to try Scotty's, I was going to give try and secure a spot there. But if that does not work out then I am open to anything else!

My current plan is to get in sometime Tuesday evening, crash, and then go down to help set up.

Once that's done, I might be up for a game or two, but no idea how long helping is going to take.

After the convention, it is my hope to help out with take-down, then possibly grab a bite to eat, then might be able to do a game or two.

If folks have not done the Scotty's experience, it's a neat thing, but be prepared for the noise of a bar as well as a movie that they typically have going at significant volume in addition to your table.

Also, don't be stingy to the poor waitstaff, my previous experience in both years has been that they provide exemplary service.

Dark Archive 4/5

I ran a Wednesday night slot last year by the cafe area in GC proper. (by the skywalk to the hotel just west of Sagamore).

Hoping to play another 7-11 that night! If we need a judge though, I'll gladly remove the skeletal structure from various pathfinders in a 7-11. Either way, 7-11. >.>

Dark Archive 4/5 *

Are there signups for these games yet? My flight out Sunday prohibits me playing then, but I'd love to get a game in Wednesday night.

I could certainly be convinced tonplay a game Wednesday night 7pm-11:30pm.

Yup, I'm signed up to play a table at Scotty's from 12:30 - 5. I was looking for something in the evening, say from 6 or 7-11ish.

The Exchange 4/5 Owner - D20 Hobbies

So I'd like to get some suggestions for 7-11 scenarios and run 4 ~ tables at 6 pm or so

Grand Lodge 4/5

I believe Scotty's themselves have asked us to vacate by 5pm, and will not seat PFS tables in the evening.

The Exchange 4/5 Owner - D20 Hobbies

Steven I'm talking about sourcing other space in GenCon or elsewhere.

Dark Archive 4/5 *

James, I'd love to get in on a table of #7-23 Abducted in Aether. I can probably run if you don't have GMs set yet. I'd also be up to play or run #8-20 Torrent's Last Will.

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/55/55/5 ****

I am watching this tread. I am interested in playing a game about 6 or 7pm.

I'm not interested in anything Wednesday night, because I'm running an 8am Thursday game.

I am potentially interested in a post-con Sunday night game, though.

Grand Lodge 4/5

I will absolutely be up for one more game Sunday night.

The Exchange 4/5 Owner - D20 Hobbies

I'll make a rough draft of scenarios to run both days tonight. If anyone feels a different scenario is better please comment. Ideally I'd like to do maybe 4 tables each day. I'll handle working with GenCon/ hotels to make sure the space is good, free and safe like last year. I'll also inquire and manage any RSP boons if I can get it approved.

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/55/55/5 ****

Any chance a high level is on that list?

Dark Archive 4/5

James,
I'd be willing to run 8-20 the 7-11 or If we have a great judge willing to step up I'd love to play 8-25

Grand Lodge 4/5

I'd volunteer, but since I'd be playing it that morning, I don't think I'd be able to do it justice without immediately turning around to prep (and stealing Andrew's maps too).

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/5

Interested! I'm also curious about any opportunities outside of Scotties if any.

As to running something, I could run 8-13.

I blinked and all the seats I was interested in vanished. :D

Sovereign Court 4/5 5/55/55/55/5 ***** Venture-Captain, North Carolina—Central Region

Definitely interested in playing (and possibly running) in these slots.

I'm interested on Sunday, but have *just* started PFS - I doubt I'll have any characters capable of higher scenarios by GenCon.
