Traps that summon creatures and the Counter-Summoner archetype

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

Did come up in a PFS session recently. A trap went off that summoned creatures, and my counter-summoner attempted to counter it via Counter-Summon (Su). GM ruled that I couldn't do it (because I failed the perception check to notice the trap), but we were all very unclear if this ability could counter a summon via a trap had I noticed the trap. Summoned creatures were very easy to defeat, so no issues there.

Not looking to debate with the GM over the last session, but for the future, Can you counter spells generated by traps?

In Rules As Written (RAW), no. It specifically says you can counter spells cast by a "creature" not traps.

Ah, good call. Yeah, that works. Thanks.
