I'm having my character for an upcoming kingmaker game (a spear-wielding draconic bloodline bloodrager) hail from numeria, but I'm rather stumped on what sort of look to go for his equipment and such.
so, I'm looking for things like numerian military uniforms or other standard battle gear--though mostly barbarians, surely the technic league and the black sovereign must have a standing army? according to google images, there's a numerian captain NPC who seems fairly rough, but I'm wondering if "ragged black cloth with sharp bits here and there" is the norm or not.
So, per Iron Gods, I don't think Numeria really has a military uniform as such. There are two main "factions" of the Numerian government, basically (who are allied): the barbarians serving the Black Sovereign (who is pretty much a puppet of the Technic League as of the start of that campaign) and the Technic League itself. I wouldn't personally call the Technic League a strict military, since there are multiple captains in the League, all with competing agendas and goals. (It's fairly full of back-stabbing.) The Black Sovereign did have an army of barbarians, but most of them now just hang around the capital engaging in debauchery and bullying locals.
So how you'd dress probably depends on whether your character was one of the people guarding the Black Sovereign or a member of the Technic League (from your description, Technic League is less likely). Sovereign's forces would be more traditonally "barbarian," while League might be more clean-cut and sci-fi (though it definitely varies). You might have more tech gear than the average character if you're from Numeria (though most people outside the League aren't allowed to have it, so you'd have to be sneaky/smuggle it out).
I don't think either faction really has a set uniform, so you can pretty much make up what you want. Maybe check out the Starfall Spade for a neat Numerian weapon you might have? If you want some inspiration, check out the Iron Gods path and Technology guide for their pictures.
