I just want Galactus, Kang and Annihilus back. :)
It's funny because Kang is mostly better known as an AVENGERS villain now. And to be fair, BLACK PANTHER makes his first appearance in the FF (#52 I think) but is better known for being an Avenger. I really wonder if Kang is tied into the Fox FF deal...

Well, let's get back to Ragnarok!
...I wonder if that's a vacation spot in Scandinavia somewhere that's just gotten a horrible reputation over the years but actually is a pretty decent place to live.
You're thinking of Hell

The use of time travel in any sort of medium not based around time travel almost universally destroys any semblance of reason or sense in the rest of its plot, or the plot of its entire series. Writers use it as a cheap trick for temporary gain.
The rare few exceptions, like Dr Strange, work because they go out of their way to 'contain' the time travel to a very specific purpose, with strict rules and limitations. In Strange's case, he is prevented from ruining the timeline both because of how the time travel works, and because of the existence of the very organization he works for.
The other exceptions work because they split from the main continuity to tell a story isolated from the original--like the Star Trek movie reboot.

Well...we KNOW that Fox only recently got TV rights for there film properties. Marvel, which has never had a great relationship with Fox, wouldn't have given those things away for free. So speculation is generally that their might have been a trade for rights of some cosmic stuff back to the Marvel for use in the MCU.
So who knows.

Sweet. I'm glad my God of Thunder has a movie that's this highly rated/liked/well reviewed.
Yeah especially after that last film he needed a win.
That said, a couple people (mostly Youtube Commenters) are apparently annoyed that the film is another Marvel comedy. So hopefully your into Thor being funny.

That's likely to be me, though I still have high hopes.
I wasn't impressed with the comedy bits in the trailer and I'm not real fond of the Planet Hulk/Gladiator thing. Detracts from what I did find very cool about the trailers.

I want a Kree Skrull war! Is that too much to ask?
Per Kevin Feige at this last Comic-Con, the upcoming Captain Marvel movie (set in the 1990s) will build on The Kree-Skrull War and/or depict at least part of it. We won't know how much is in the film until much closer to its premiere, but the Skrulls (not the Chitauri) are definitely confirmed as being in the film.

I thought it was okay. The best Thor movie to date but probably the weakest Marvel film overall since Age of Ultron (although not by much, and my current ranking of it below Doctor Strange and Ant-Man might be because I went into both films having avoided the trailers and was expecting disappointments in both cases, the reverse of my approach to Ragnarok). The opening is a mess and the comedy is allowed to overshadow the serious dramatic stuff, which makes it feel a bit weightless. Also, the trailers contain almost all of the film's best scenes.
There is some pretty good stuff as well, and Goldblum has some absolutely mental scenes. I also liked the fleshing out of Hulk as a character in his own, distinct right. But yeah, I think somewhat disappointing if you've bought into the hype.

I loved the hell out of the movie, it was a fantastic comedy, the characters bounced off each other really well. Taika Waititi did a fantastic job.
This movie is what's needed today, a message that says: "Just because it's the end of a world doesn't mean it's the end of the world."
and
Superheroes, particularly the likes of Thor and Hulk are inherently absurd, embracing the comedy of that was the best choice for this film.

From what I've read, I have issues, but it's not enough for me to call this movie the worst that Marvel ever produced. Taika Waitai seems to have pulled some good scenes together and the banter sounds good. On to the spoilers!
What I DO have a problem is the destruction of Mjolnir and the fact Thor never needed it. Dude that's like saying Cap doesn't need his shield or Iron Man his armor! Or Spidey with no web shooters! I'm not against Hela. I'm not against her being more powerful than her comic counterpart. (I actually applaud that fact and the scene change/reshoot seems to work MUCH better because of it.) But having Thor not in some way reconstitute his main weapon (a weapon of such power even Galactus might fear it at times)...doesn't cut it for me.
As for the whole of the Ragnarok, my feeling is mixed. Mixed because yes Asgard SHOULD go, mostly because it's not how I viewed a mystical realm and it needs to change. But how the hell wasn't THE OTHER realms not involved this? Where were the dwarves? The light elves! Hell the freaking FROST giants?! I'm glad Surtur played more than just a minor role but come on! It just didn't feel like Ragnarok so much "Siege as done by Hela." I also don't see the point of taking Hulk along if he's not going to do something to shape the outcome more than he did. Hela's role as the villain is also not something I want to gripe about. She clearly has the skill, the power and most of all, the understanding that Malekith never did. (That and the fact he never used the Reality stone's power well.) Skurge's death was a great homage to his own comic book death. So there was that. Mostly it felt like a mish-mash of Kirby with some Simonson tossed along...but it never FELT like epic Thor stuff or at least...the comedy seem to outweigh the stuff that should be more important. (The loss of Mjolnir, the Death of Odin, the Destruction of Asgard.) It was...just not there. I will say I did enjoy seeing Sam Neill as Odin along with Chris' older brother Luke take over as Thor. Damon is a decent Loki but not great (but a nice nod to his character in Dogma, ALSO named Loki)
Overall I feel like the powers that be at Marvel missed the mark by trying to make Thor feel less...weighty. Which is fine. Grimdark is already too much in comics, and Thor's weightiness is pretty heavy at times. So comedy is helpful. But I think they went TOO far in the other direction. It's not a bad movie, but it's clearly not the best Thor movie they could have made. (It's still better than Dark World by a long shot.)
Anyways I will go see in theaters to see if I still feel this way...but based on the summary...I doubt it.

I can't disagree more. Not that there can't be comedy or that everything needs to be grimdark, but that the characters are inherently absurd and need to be treated that way.
For me, they don't work if we're supposed to be laughing at how silly the whole idea is.

Ambrosia,
I kind of hope that...but I'm not expecting it.
Also I agree with Jeff, it's one thing to laugh at the foibles of our characters, it's another thing to treat it all as joke.
Cape Cod,
As you wish!
The end credit, Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster ask for the rioting crowd to calm down and call the match a drawn.

Werthead |

Can I get a spoiler block of post credit scenes please? I heard there are alot of them.
There isn't, there's only 2 (compared to GotG's 5).
In the second, the Grandmaster is captured by the populace of Sakaar who rebelled against him and he suggests they "call it a draw".
I've seen some speculation that Marvel is keeping the Ancients like the Grandmaster and the Collector on tap for a possible future storyline,
so Goldblum may return.

I don't know, from what I'm hearing, this movie moves too far into actual comedy for my tastes, especial for a character like Thor, who works better as a fairly serious, almost Shakespearean character.
I get the Hemmsworth is a funny guy, but Thor really isn't. Changing an already established character like this into a quippy joke-machine just doesn't sit with me.
As more reviews are coming out, it seems like others feel similarly ...
I think I skip this one
