Is something wrong with the Udaeus's speed? (Bestiary 4)

The Udaeus has a Speed of 20 ft.... but it's wearing a breastplate, so... shouldn't it get a "base speed" of 30 ft. without it? There's no indication about this in the entry.


Looking at the creature. I would agree with you. I believe the Speed entry in the stat block is taking into account the breastplate and they appear to be more or less human analogues so I cannot think of a physiological reason their base speed would be anything other than 30. So yes, the entry should likely be similar to a Fire Giant's or any other armored creature, something like, 'Speed 30 (20 in armor)'.

I have no factual or behind-the-scenes intel to back this up other than what I've mentioned from observation, however.
