Contents: 85 goblins with class levels; 16 lizardfolk with class levels; 5 other creatures with class levels; 24 varieties of colored dragonlike critters that add nothing to the game; 6 new felldrakes. Or was that MMIV? I'm beginning to lose track.
Darn, you beat me to it. I was going to add in Drow Nudists and porn stars though. *lol*

Sucros |

You guys forgot seven varieties of spiders :P
That being said, there were a number of gems in MMIV, even if some of them were no surprise as not being minis.
I know they aren't going to go as spawn of tiamat crazy as they did in MMIV, a number of designers have mentioned they are aware of the bad feedback. If they focused on the positive aspects of the book (The Zern in particular were quite good, as well as most of the demons and yugoloths.)
I will be interested to see if it takes more of a MMIII tactic of mosnters that make really good dungeon fodder, or the Fiend Folio/ MMIV tactic of monsters that make good backbones for whole adventures.

Actually there are two forms of cyclops in Deities. One is the monstrous, man-eating lesser variaty the other is the divine weapon-making version.
As Monster Manuals by nature have to have a few of every official type I'm sure there are giants involved.

Half-ogre mage template. That's two.
I'd love to see that, too. Though it would be a huge stretch to say that I miss the arumvorax, its name alone merits inclusion... I also wouldn't mind some plant monsters, as well as some fun vermin types, like the old giant ant lion.
Also, the new evil outsiders have generally been good, so keep those coming as well - but how about a half-slaad, or creatures from the more obscure outer planes like Acheron or Pandemonium? If nothing else, those could make cool templates.

aurumvorax, giant ant lion, half-slaad...that's 12.
Yeah! An aurumvorax nowhere near as LAME as the one on the WotC site, but more along the lines of a dire badger on cyrstal meth! And vegepygmies would totally rule. I also miss the transposer, but I doubt they'd convert it like I did (as a Plant).

Transposer CR 4
Medium Plant
Init +1; Senses darkvision 60 ft., Listen +1, Spot +1
AC 13, touch 11, flat-footed 12; Dodge
hp 33 (6 HD)
Fort +6, Ref +3, Will +1
Spd 30 ft.
Melee 2 slams +5 (1d6+1 and tranpsosition field)
Base Atk +4; Grp +5
Abilities Str 12, Dex 13, Con 12, Int 8, Wis 8, Cha 14
SQ disguise self (lasts until dispelled or transposer is slain)
Feats Alertness, Dodge, Skill Focus (disguise)
Skills Bluff +6, Disguise +10, Listen +1, Spot +1
Transposition Field (Su): Any living creature hit by a transposer is linked to it for the remainder of the encounter. Any damage dealt by that opponent to the transposer does the attacker harm and restores lost hit points to the transposer in equal proportion. Any curative-type spell cast on the transposer will harm it while simultaneously healing the linked opponent. Cure spells cast on the linked opponent do not harm the transposer, however.
The transposer appears fairly humanoid, although it has no features and its limbs end in sucker-like members. Their origin is uncertain, although some claim they are grown in tanks by deranged sorcerer-scientists. It is known that at least one military installation near Ull was infiltrated by transposers and finally overrun by zombies, once the transposers had begun the attack and opened the doors. At least one psion survivor has developed a "reverse transposition field" power in response...

Arumvorax are great but my favorite from the old MMII is the FROGHEMOTH!
I REALLY like Tito Leahi's froghemoth from Dungeon #128; it keeps the original flavor, and powers it up enough to cope in 3E. (That was the first issue of Dungeon I had ever seen; I opened to that page randomly, and bought it without looking any further. I obtained a subscription soon thereafter. Erik and James do REALLY good work.)

I cant remember what issue of dragon it was in. Anyone remember the "Whats new Dragon?" It has puzzled look on its face and would bark at the P.Cs. If the P.Cs didnt bark back it would flame them.

To expand upon the half Slaad as half Celestial/Fiend for Chaos, how about half Formian or half Inevitable for Law. Also, and this is a fervent hope, a whole bunch of new Devils, damn it. The Blood War is becoming seriously unbalanced. New dinosaurs and dire animals would be quite welcome. New celestials (Angels, Archons and Guardinals primarily, although Eladrins are welcome as well) are greatly desired. No new Demons!!!!
Maybe some new or revamped old Dragons (see discussion of Yellow Dragon, etc.) New undead, new deathless (not everyone's cup of tea, but then again, some monster concepts I don't like others do), few or no new fey, some new humanoid races for PCs. Just my two cents/coppers.

Yes, the stench kow, cattle of the Underworld... How 'bout a Fugue Plane (i.e. True Neutral) planar dragon, just to complete the collection?
A cheesy, yet fond memory I have from the original DMG was the Random Demon Table ("The creature has, lessee...the head of a crocodile, ummm... the body of a cow, huge claws aaaaand feathered wings, all covered in... long white fur. It snarls furiously and attacks!") - making a new one for quickly creating random extraplanar baddies could be fun. It might be hard to assign proper CR to randomly created monsters, though... On a less extraplanar, but equally random note - has the mongrelman been remade for 3.x? If not, they certainly should!
