Craft Magic Arms and Armor clarification

Rules Questions

I just want to confirm something:

If a player with the Craft Magic Arms and Armor feat wants to give a weapon a +1 bonus, will that cost 1000gp instead of 2000gp? The wording - for me atleast - is a little confusing. Does this also mean that giving the flaming quality only costs +4000gp?

If this is the case, does this also mean that giving armor a +1 bonus only costs 500gp?

These prices just seem a bit cheap, and I've honestly never had to deal with magic item creation until recently.

Thank you!

The crafting cost is half the market price.

So a +1 Weapon would cost 1,000gp. (2,000gp/2)

Giving said +1 weapon the Flaming property would cost 3,000 gp, not +4,000 gp.
3,000 gp is the difference between crafting a +1 weapon and a +2 weapon, which is what you would be doing.

Since an "armor +1" has a market price of 1,000 gp, it would indeed only cost 500 gp to craft.

But whatever you do, don't let them create their own magical effects. Stick to existing abilities.

So, just to be clear, a +1 flaming longsword at the market would cost 8,000gp, but someone crafting it would be 4,000gp? As long as they have the Craft Arms and Armor feat?

yep.

Remember to enforce the need of time and skill checks to craft.

Awesome, thanks for the quick response! Yeah, I do know the rolls and time required and understand them, though I think I was just reading into the feat a bit too much, lol. Thanks!

oh right, don't forget that the 8,000 gp is for the magical enhancements. The player must first buy (or make) a MWK Longsword for 315 gp, so the Market Price of said MWK Longsword would be 8,315 gp.

And the player can't sell the magic item for Market Price.
