Faun as a PC

Homebrew and House Rules

One of my players wants to play a faun and I'm all for it. He understands that the faun as three racial levels (3d6) so how can I break this down savage species style for him? Any advice?

CG Medium fey
Init +3; Senses low-light vision; Perception +8 DEFENSE
AC 16, touch 13, flat-footed 13 (+3 Dex, +3 natural) hp 13 (3d6+3)
Fort +2, Ref +6, Will +5
DR 2/cold iron
OFFENSE
Speed 30 ft.
Melee dagger +4 (1d4+2/19–20)
Ranged shortbow +4 (1d6/×3)
Special Attacks panpipes
Spell-Like Abilities (CL 3rd; concentration +6)
At will—ghost sound (DC 13)
1/day—hideous laughter (DC 14), sleep (DC 14) STATISTICS
Str 14, Dex 16, Con 13, Int 11, Wis 14, Cha 17 Base Atk +1; CMB +3; CMD 16
Feats Point-Blank Shot, Weapon Finesse Skills Acrobatics +8, Bluff +9, Perception
+8, Perform (wind) +9, Sense Motive +7, Stealth
+9, Survival +4
Languages Common, Sylvan
ECOLOGY
Environment temperate forests
Organization solitary, pair, or band (3–8)
Treasure standard (dagger, shortbow with 20 arrows,
masterwork panpipes, other treasure)
SPECIAL ABILITIES
Panpipes (Su) Three times per day, a faun can use its
masterwork panpipes to augment its spell-like abilities. Doing so is a swift action that increases the DC of the next spell-like ability it uses on its turn by +2.

You could use the rules given in the ARG for making races, it looks easily doable.

depends if he wants to specifically play that race with the level adjustment of 1 or would like to play a faun like race made with the make your own race thing if its the former your looking at +4 str +6 dex +2 con + 4 wis and +6 cha on top of what ever he rolls for stats if its the latter then ill whip something up for you if you would like ill try and balance it the best i can

using the race maker faun with no level adjustment
Medium(0rp)
fey(2rp)
normal speed 30 feet (0rp)
flexible +2 dex +2 cha(2rp)
languages standard(0rp)
natural armor +1(2rp)
fey damage resistance dr5/cold iron(3rp)
improved natural armor +1 (1rp)
skill bonus +2 stealth +2 sense motive(4rp)
total rp 14

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the help. My player was looking to use him savage species style. With racial levels.

ok then he gets +4 str +6 dex +2 con + 4 wis and +6 cha and he has 3 racial hit die and is one class level behind every one else in the group

Thanks so much, really appreciate it. What about skills and feats though?

the player should reallocate those as they please they may be one of those creatures but as a pc they are not a cookie cutter version of that race

So any feats are ok? I was thinking of only allowing the skills listed above while it's a racial class. What about weapons and armor proficiencies? Sorry for annoying you and everyone else with all of these stupid questions. I'm still a noob.

its their character they should be able to customise it and they can put the skill points into any skill they just dont get the extra +3 unless they put the point into a class skill(some races treat certain skills as class skills)
Skill points equal to 6 + Int modifier (minimum 1) per Hit Die. The following are class skills for fey: Acrobatics, Bluff, Climb, Craft, Diplomacy, Disguise, Escape Artist, Fly, Knowledge (geography), Knowledge (local), Knowledge (nature), Perception, Perform, Sense Motive, Sleight of Hand, Stealth, Swim, Use Magic Device. for fey

as for weapons and armor that's in your territory as
Proficient with all simple weapons and any weapons mentioned in its entry.
Proficient with whatever type of armor (light, medium, or heavy) it is described as wearing, as well as all lighter types. Fey not indicated as wearing armor are not proficient with armor. Fey are proficient with shields if they are proficient with any form of armor.

but if you ask them what class they will be going into at level 2 i don't see any harm on letting them have the armor/weapons proficiency of that class just let them know that once they make the choice of class if they wana switch the class they take at level 2 it will have to be a class that has the same weapon/armor proficiencies that they were using at level 1
