How to calculate the weight of Druid‘s Kit

Rules Questions

druid's kit

Price 14 gp; Weight 44 lbs.

This includes animal feed (5 days), a backpack, a belt pouch, a blanket, a flint and steel, holly, mistletoe, an iron pot, a mess kit, soap, a spell component pouch, torches (10), trail rations (5 days), and a waterskin.

animal feed (5 days) 10 lbs *5
backpack 2 lbs
belt pouch 1/2 lbs
blanket 3 lbs
flint and steel -
holly ?
mistletoe ?
iron pot 4 lbs
mess kit 1 lbs
soap 1/2 lbs
spell component pouch 2 lbs
torches (10) 1 lbs *10
trail rations(5 days) 1 lbs *5
waterskin 4 lbs

10*5 + 2 + 1/2 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 1/2 + 2 + 1*10 + 1*5 + 4 = 82

Why the kit weigh 44 lbs?

The math is clearly off.

Nearly all of the kits don't reflect the some of their parts, in either value or weight.

The developers long ago claimed this was deliberate, to account for more efficient packing techniques and bulk discounts.

I think it's BS because they don't want to have to fix that many errors, but that's nevertheless what they've said in the past.

it's the hot air in the bag that gives it buoyancy (lift)...

Meant to say "sum of their parts"

(I was tired.)
