I feel a bit bad for how this thread's gotten derailed onto various minutiae concerning running E6 variants rather than techniques on running successful campaigns. Should we set up a separate E6/8 thread to discuss the subject further?

I don't even know what E6 is.

I apologize if I came across overly hostile, it really wasn't my intention. I actually was writing up another post to further explain my reasoning on why I consider the Slayer below average in the early levels, but I discarded it because I figured you wouldn't care that much and it would have been even more off topic (and it is, so unless you guys really care I'm not going to go into it, but I'll elaborate if you wish)

Nevertheless, thank you for the elaboration on why people play E6! I thought it was pretty much entirely to cap magic potential, I see I was wrong. That does change things a bit.

I never claimed my reasoning wasn't petty, and I wasn't trying to make a big argument against the system, I was just saying that I myself had a personal problem with E6 in particular and would personally be happier with E7.

I will happily drop the discussion if you feel it is too disruptive to the topic. I found discussing these points to actually help understanding how these house rules fit together, as E6 is a pretty important part of it, but again, I will drop it if necessary.

As long as it's in good faith (that is, people aren't trolling), disagreement is good since that's how people learn and viewpoints evolve, so such a discussion is certainly not disruptive, in the right place, but as I said, I'm thinking that more in-depth discussion of E6 variants - divorced from the other topics in this thread's OP - would be better suited to its own thread. I think I'll set one up, now.

This dude seems to know what he's talking about.

Ah, thanks.
