Character class progression

OK everyone. I just stared to playing again. The only character I have for pathfinder is a half elf ranger level 7 and only played at gencon so not much time under my belt.
I am now playing in a game for Rise of the rune lord. I came in at 3rd level rogue from the unchained book. Now I am level 4 I took hunter (I liked the skill increase). The 2 people that ran the wizard and cleric freak out one us and won't be back. Now I am looking at adding in the magus to fill in one of the gaps. I need some help there are a lot of resources out there to go through and find a good build.

I am playing as a Kitsune my first two feats are magic tail feats.
(Sticking to the Kitsune mythos I am using a wakasaishi.)
3 levels of rogue and 1 level of hunter.

I'm looking to keep my defense and my damage out put as high as I can get it. Any suggestions on spells, magus arcana, and rogues talents.

Please leave a resource so I can study it before my next game thanks for all the help.

Are you going to be playing two characters or replacing the rogue/Hunter with a magus? I'm a little confused by what you're asking.

Wait, are you multiclassing into magus at 5th level? Don't do it. There's no synergy. Rogue 3/Hunter * is not great but OK -- you can take things like Boon Companion and Magical Knack to recover levels for your companion and your caster level. But Magus and Hunter don't share casting stat, they don't have any abilities that boost one another -- you'll have a BAB of 2 at level 5, cast a couple level 1 hunter spells at CL 1, a couple level 1 magus spells at CL 1, and be going up against foes where the CR assumes you have a BAB of at least 3 and at least 2nd level spells.

Stick with Hunter. They're very strong as they can make the animal companion kick ass. Take Boon Companion to boost the level of your animal, and when you can, take Additional Traits and take the Magical Knack trait to get a +2 bonus to your caster level (this doesn't give you higher level spells, but lets your spells you cast be more powerful).

Just agreeing. Adding Magus will just make you weaker, Rogue/Hunter is already an add combination adding a few levels of magus will not help at all. You are not going to replace a specialist wizard with a couple of levels of magus so don't try just concentrate on being good at whatever your character does
